Is there anything more boring to watch than a mmorpg trailer featuring gameplay that isn't "actual (showing UI, and such)" gameplay?

Yes the trailer looks awful but at least in my opinion, so does 90% of mmorpg gameplay trailers. Especially that shows no UI and such because quite frankly, I got no bloody clue to what is going on and that just makes it boring.

In other words, The importance of this trailer isn't very much.

But seeing "pvp" video in ARR makes me so sad it's almost funny, is that all SE has to show off? I mean this is a promo video and it looks hmm dissapointing.. you can't tell me anyone into pvp actually finds that video exciting or promising?

I think this is a good hint, they are not going to fix the delay issues, and that is the reason pvp will be like presented in the video, standing in spot and attacking each other.
    much skill
    so intense
    wow

    the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bei96BMUa9w
Your first problem is you thought this was a PvP game lol.

That video is a good show, but doesn't provide enough information to judge now whether pvp will be good or not. As a demonstration video, it is fine.

Then you seriously missed the memo so to speak. You can see this server delay at any given moment, by casting a spell and moving when it's 75-80% done casting. It won't interrupt.
Then there's the red circles, and taking damage even though you moved out if it. And the skill delay...no idea how you miss that one. It's just there.
Your spell does not begin it's cast time the second you press the key. (which it should).
Even if it was perfect, 2 spells in almost 5 seconds?? what a clunky horrible system.

It has nothing to do with latency. I have blazing fast internet, and super duper awesome sauce low latency. Before you've even done anything, you have a 300ms discrepancy with the server and it syncing with your game client. That's not a issue of latency, everyone has it.
I won't be subbing when my time expires in a couple days due to these 3 things, that you pretend don't exist.
And Square E not responding or otherwise publicly talking about this issue with plans to fix it, is a insult to me as a customer. It's a slap in the face and actually...it's an insult.

Here is a video all about it. You don't have to watch the whole thing, but the important part starts about the 5 minute mark where he demostrates server/client delay.

Which is why even in MMO PvP it's important to always stay moving.
the client/server delay ( or as bad as it is in FF14) is limited to FF14
I've played them all, and no other game out there, has what I describe above. I've also played every single FPS out there, and fail to see how you can find a relationship here.
Path of Exile has it bad, but it's not constant, it's intermittent. And that is the ONLY game I've ever seen this crap besides FF14.

Anyone who thought this game would be viable for pvp is clueless. There are many games out already that are made for pvp, if it is added in later it is what we call a "clue." The lag is VERY bad (and this is the only game that I have chronic lag so I know it isn't me) and would make pvp a terrible waste of time. I am not having a horrid time in this game, but it is extremely lazy and isn't going to have a long life if they continue with this amateurish production. I want them to succeed, but so far I have just seen them selling a name and that is unfortunate.

Watch the two players running on the same server (irrelevant that one is on pc or ps3). At 1:40, on one screen the Roegadyn is ahead of the warrior, but on the other he is behind the warrior. Now tell me, which screen shows proper placement of the character?

Answer: only the server knows and it isn't telling you anything. That's why AoE circles are broken. People are tired of being punished for playing correctly on their screen.
You realize that pretty much every MMO acts this way, yes? The only way to tell who is actually ahead is to see who is closer, or from a third party observer. You will *always* be farther ahead on your screen than other people see you.

That's not to say that PvP in ARR is going to be anything but shit (tanks with no DPS spec? A class that does 100% damage while moving and has a root and gap-creator? lolololol).

It looks like a PvE movie with mobs replaced by players.

The video seems a little bit lackluster and amateurish by SE standards, however I am certain they want keep the goodies for the actual reveal.

I for one am anxious for PvP.

Ok, it's not just limited to FF14... you can stop with that. All MMOs have this. I used to play MMOs with my wife sitting at a desk next to me on top of the line internet for our area and you could ALWAYS see that.

PvP will be instanced as it is usually instanced for competitive PvP. Have you ever wondered why? Because those servers will have less traffic per instance to deal with than a zone with countless players. If you played PvP in a open world setting you can still see the same thing happen. They put PvP on instanced servers for a reason.
