This for crying out loud. A thousand times this.
These threads are hilarious. PvP a deal breaker, in a FF title. Just looooooooooooool.
Its funny what people say " pvp doesnt belong to a ff title", "if you want pvp go play another game". Just because you dont like something it doesnt automatically mean that its content or features not needed in a game. Whose to say there cant be pvp in a ff game, with that logic someone could also say there cant be dungeon farming or crafting which are both essential aspects of mmorpg's as pvp is. The correct thing YOU should say would be " DONT ADD OPEN WORLD PVP" that i agree would not belong in this game. Having arenas for sparring or maybe siege events in other maps makes alot of sense to me tho. I would even go as far as to organise server based pvp tournaments or FC tournaments with points and have season winners with maybe some housing rewards or perks to show off. Now that would give a less boring flavor to the game and add some healthy server competition.
For the rest complaining about skill lags etc, this is how pvp is in most mmo's, deal with it and stop complaining for something you havent even experienced yet.
Have to say it looks a bit lackluster for me, but I didn't come for the PvP so not especially fussed.
I don't think it's that there cannot be PvP in an FF title, there can be. However, to people expecting
SE to dedicate ridiculous resources and/or time to make PvP the main focus and super-mega-epic-awesome
are not going to get that. That's just truth. FF has always been more story-driven PvE based. Look at XI.
I love PvP myself, and I'll definitely be taking part in it in this game regardless. I'm just not getting my hopes
up that PvP will recieve more attention than PvE. That's just how it's going to be. Seems a lot of people
posting lately are the types that are "PvP or gtfo". Unfortunately I don't think a lot of these people's expectations
are going to be met by FF PVP.
I could be completely wrong, I don't know. This video that is posted is completely un-finished. They are having
completely seperate skills, and I doubt everyone is just going to stand in one spot like that and get LB. Lol. They
still have time to add some surprises, so who knows.
People bought FFXIV with the expectations that PvP would be amazing, and call it a "deal breaker" when it doesn't appear perfect in an early development promo video? That's cute.
That said, it still looks better than ballista.
Then what is the point of having incorrect aoe timings marked on the floor? If this is a standard staple of the game adjust the area timings to suit the delay. As other people have said, they are fighting the delay rather than the actual boss. This surely cannot be the intended aim of the game.As for veterans...the game needs more than blind loyalty. Players where quick enough to ditch the first iteration of xiv, and irrespective of how many so called veterans stuck around, the consequence was that it had to go ftp. The delay may be ok for this insufficient number of veterans, but times have moved on since xi or whatever. The choice of games is widening all the time, competition is increasing. This game needs the sub numbers to support existing infrastructure and future development. This delay, the cause of so much dissatisfaction
Agree
I think anyone who's spent a decent amount of time PvP'ing in other MMOs knew that PvP was NOT going to be great in FFXIV. Not surprising at all.
SE's .3 second(or more) delay attached to every movement/action/spell killed PvP from the get-go anyways.

They are trying to build a successful MMO in 2013. Shouting OH ITS FINAL FANTESY WAT DID YOU EXPECT LOL isn't exactly a valid argument anymore.
don't get what people have with lags. I have nice latency and never saw somone laging in my groups or saw a delay when I pushed a button etc..
I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
He who learns but does not think, is lost. He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger.

Watch the two players running on the same server (irrelevant that one is on pc or ps3). At 1:40, on one screen the Roegadyn is ahead of the warrior, but on the other he is behind the warrior. Now tell me, which screen shows proper placement of the character?
Answer: only the server knows and it isn't telling you anything. That's why AoE circles are broken. People are tired of being punished for playing correctly on their screen.
As for the success of PvP, I'll reserve judgement until I can actually play it and see how it feels first hand. Also, I want to see what the different sets of skills are for PvP only. As it stand right now, I saw people test PvP in p4 with our current PvE skills and a whm with swiftcast was impossible to kill.
