[dev1082] THE Mount System / Chocobo Tribute

I remember when I told my friend this.

"Hey pal, they're going to implement other mounts other than chocobos!" "Yaaaaay, WoW!"

well...maybe thats what the game should get & give WoW a run for their money.
If WoW can have various mounts why cant FFXIV, im sure they'd be unique in their own way.
Unlike Rift's 2headed turtle....

Besides WoW & rift arnt the only mmo out there, ppl are just using it as a lame excuse.

Bring on the slug, coblyn & hog mounts!

If all else fails, just lets us get some Canoe's so we can paddle around in the ponds, now if anything unique it's that. (no Roegadyn's in the back of the Canoe's plz)

Anywayz, i'd let SE implement a few various Mounts for us to try out, then give them feedback of if we like or not, maybe it wont "Feel" like WoW after all. (wich i doubt)

Guess a test server would come in handy for that... but ppl prolly complain about that too for being too WoW-like. >.<

Like 'zaviermihgo' I think I would have a hard time to accept anything else.

I think I could settle for it, but then I'd hope for a really smooth and great way of introduction.
I would be sad if it'd be like: "Here, new mount."

And we'd have the option to ride a storyless, meaningless, random mount that just looks cool which has been put in the game just for the sake of... putting it in. I won't say: "No way ever." ... But it's gotta be at least as epic if you decide to put something next to the Chocobo. (If it's not epic, why choose to put something un-epic next to something that already is perfect.)

Anyways. (^-^) Hope some people answer to the questions and we can get a discussion without comparisons to other games going.

Im as open to new ideas in FF games as the next fan...but yeah, we dont need more than chocobos for mounts. Different types of chocobos? Sure. But riding a giant armored bird (hopefully armored since the artist is the same as the Ivalice series) is good enough.

I like everything here except the idea of Chocobo combat. Pimping your ride with gear is one thing, but implementing chocobo combat is a long way off. No FF game has it, and I doubt ever will unless its the gimmick of the game. I'm all for breeding of different colored and able chocobos, especially being able to add equipment to differentiate my chocobo from the next guy's.

Basically you wrote a ton of stuff and hardly anyone will read that. If that was in MS word it would be like 10 pages or more.

I trust you blindly here, Rhen, and assume you're right since - I have actually no clue but, yeah, it sounds like a lot of work. Pictures of "Aeolian Saddles", "Malachite Harness" and "Loyalists Helmet" came to my mind and I couldn't stop it. When I thought about later, I felt like maybe making the Chocobo a huge part of the combat would change the experience in a bad way. But who knows. Have there ever been fights on mounts somewhere? (^,^)

Yeah, I considered that. But I decided to still do it, for there's always some peeps who enjoy going a bit further than the usual level interaction on particularly this forum. There are always people who are different from rest... And it's for these 2-3 people. (^-^)
Also... I really enjoyed getting lost in ideas and fantasies and think about stuff.
Therefore alone it was worth it. *giggle*

I hope, though, people who are new to Final Fantasy will at least read the "About The Chocobo" paragraph. I think it's know what a long way it came.
