What are you arguing? you seem rather passionate about something you obviously dislike.
I played WOW once, didnt like it, didnt feel the need to tell people I didnt like it, I just left. But your still here.............?
Instead of arguing about XI vs. XIV's population (which I know it's important ) wouldn't the better question be, what exactly do these forums feel Yoshi has done to deserve this promotion?
Not like our opinions matter (unless you have clout in SE in the way of shareholdings), but I'm just curious.
Is it the wealth of FFXIV content?
The well thought out armory and craft system?
FATES?
The fact that 2.1 is coming, when?
Crack down on Speed runs?
Crack down on RMT/ Coil5?
Tomestones?
PVP?
The DF?
Idk, what is it? Not like my opinion matters (I don't buy SE stock) but, I'm just curious as to what you guys think. For real!
How about getting back on topic. Yoshi P brought us a western style MMO with a JRPG design and story. Whether you like this game or not, Yoshi P understood what the western market is interested in more than his predecessors did. Having him help produce the other FF games is a very good thing.
You got me on the number of pre-orders. I don't know how many that was. However, 1,000,000 beta invites don't mean much when people like me can use 4-5 emails casually whereas more desperate people can create a far greater number of emails. FF14 launch wasn't that great but most mmo's launches aren't. Server overcrowding is something I see on every mmo to date. Even WoW had quite a few issues on their launch with certain servers going down for weeks. Don't get me started on the loot bug or how long it took for them to get to you if you unfortunately fell under the world.
QQ led to 2.05 which is a wonderful hotfix that fixed up alot of the problems the game had. Enjoy having 2 different dungeons to farm for Myth now instand of 1 and that I get gils enough to pay my repairs from dungeons. It also led to free server transfers. It will probably lead to alot more nice stuff in the future.

Excuse me, what does this even mean?
The story being speechless hero saves people from evil empire: I think Stars Wars did this and Lucas is from the west?
And what exactly is western about ques and instances?
Please don't read this with any negative slant. I'm just curious.
funny thing anyone says anything that does not kiss this games rectum as being the second coming and the "why do you stay you obviously hate it" lines start flowing!
the even funnier part is most who spout that line have posted far worse complaints than mine in numerous threads whinning about the battle system the this the that. my interest is enough to have bought the game and have 6 months pre paid I can complain about the game all I want. as can anyone. you have no more entitlement to an opinion than anyone else does.
and by the way the quote you have up is a comparison the previous person had made about ffvix and ffxi so you took it out of context.
you can't compare WOW's or even FFXI's launches to this one.both were first tries at MMO's. FFXIV had a previous launch and had almost the exact same errors happen then as this time. the people were there then too and all the errors chased them away (surprised they didn't play it safe and over estimated the capacity actually) this time was SE's 3rd launch of a MMO so they didn't go in as new to the genre or its problems nor did they go in blind with pre orders already tallied before launch or even the 1 mil apps which could safely mean 1/4 would be legit base to expect and probably more. stuff happens at launch everyone expects it. what happened here was BAD planning at best. You got me on the number of pre-orders. Every mmo has a bad launch. I don't think any amount of planning can account for so many people logging on and off at once. I used to RAGE about bad launches but now it's become normal. I've played over 25 mmos and each one has had the same issues. I'll believe it when a successful mmo launches with a flawless launch.you can't compare WOW's or even FFXI's launches to this one.both were first tries at MMO's. many do there are lots of cash shop games which launch with barely a hitch because the companies launching them have several titles under their belts and plan for it.Every mmo has a bad launch. flawless is unlikely but what happened at OB and early access is bad planning not some out of nowhere bug crashing the servers. they had hard numbers to work with (codes) and yet still didn't expand the system to support them. in fact they decided to reduce the access to the servers they were willing to work with instead of expanding the capacity to serve the number of players who bought the game.
