The thing is a lot of people are bored, and if the content patches dont come out quick enough they are going to loose subs. And TBCoB is still going to be "the hardest content" when 2.1 hits.

I feel confident that 2.1 will be a huge patch to add lots of things but I do not think it is coming anytime soon. My thoughts are december-Jan. Just look at their track record, sure the quality is good but it takes a while. And it might hurt the game, they are really lucky there are no "big" mmo's out right now. Everyone is either spread out over what they like / use to or waiting on ESO.

The last time SE release something and it was "early" (in my mind) was 1.0 (they announced it at E3 in June then in July they announced a release date of Sept)

Tldr; Dont expect it too soon, get comfortable where the game is at. SE takes their time, but its worth it. But from a buisness standpoint their main advantage is they are the new kid on the block. But that wont last long.

I have a feeling you're 100% right. A smart business model would be to release Crystal Tower and whatever else they are currently "polishing." Then have other patches back-to-back that introduce main scenarios, UI features, etc.

They won't do this though, but we're going to be waiting far too long and they'll lose reputation and subs by the time they do bring it out.

If you've almost got content ready, release it and be honest/realistic about the other updates.

Given the track record they have, the fact they said "before the end of the year", and the shear amount of content I'd say mid December. Right before holiday season hits seems like good timing to me. For us, and them.

Whatever you think, add time to the end of it, then account for emergency maint to fix it, then the update to make it work right.

I rather have small medium amount of content released every 2-4 weeks to add variety than one big patch every 3 months. Otherwise this will be a game that you pay subs when patch is being released, consume it within a month, and quit till the next patch is being released. Though that may be a great idea, you end up paying for 4-6 months in a year.

I am going to have to disagree that the server issues put a delay on content release. Content developers do not work in data centers. The guys who have been working on getting the servers up and tuned are not the same guys who are working on game content. There is no reason server stability / capacity increases should make any difference on when content development and QA teams complete their work. That would be like saying newspaper writers had to stop working because newspaper stands could not hold enough newspapers to meet the demand of the public.

The problem with that is releasing buggy / unpolished content which also hurts their reputation. While im almost 100% certain it will have bugs anyway some are more gamebreaking then others.

What they have to do I think is increase their dev teams to push ready content out faster. This is one of the last pay to play MMOs and they need to show their customers why. They need to also improve the content they have. My examples are Guildleves, guildhests and companions. Chocobo Companions take too long to level and there is almost no need for it. They need to be allowed in instanced areas, dungeons / story missions.

Guildleves and guildhests need to grant more exp or at least get alt class bonus (50%). Guildleves should also give much more gil. Im sitting on 100 leve allowances and no motivation to do them.

Anyway I digress this isnt a suggestion thread. SE needs to up their speed though cause right now they are doing good but they need to keep up with demand

Whoa. 2-4 week windows will not happen. I think you underestimate the complexity of an MMO. SWTOR was doing 6-8 weeks, and a lot of their patches are pretty small. But they do bigger patches about 2-3 times a year. You just can't pump out content that quickly.

Agreed. The question isn't how often they can or will bring new content out, the question is why would they hold back content that was supposed to be out in August -- that's currently getting polished -- for other content that will make them 6-8 weeks late?

    ninthfantasy here!

If people want I can translate it word for word. But the translation is pretty much spot on. In the Japanese version it literally says, "Until the release of 2.1, I will be doing a Producer Live Letter every month". But that doesn't mean to say it's gonna be months from now. It's pretty vague to be honest. I think it's safe to expect it in December.
