Spoilers and questions regarding the R46 quest

The judge sets off a flare and the triggers the crashed airship in the background to fire the huge blast. If you watch the openning Movie you see the battle and also when it crashes into the lake in Mor Dhona freeing the Primals.

I believe the Garleans are trying to prevent a huge disaster from happening, 6th Umbral Era is my guess. I believe down the line they will turn out to be the lesser of the two evils and a new foe shall emerge.

The Judge says "the stench of shadow lingers still". I believe the Shadow he is referring to is an evil that has been released in the airship crash.

In the openning Cutscene the Garlean's are in a huge battle with the Dragons. Ishgard is also at war with the dragons but we do not know what has caused this deep hatred.

I do not think the Garleans war is with us but the will not hesitate to destroy anything in their way and they have a deep hatred of the beast tribes and anyone who works with them. I am sure I remember an NPC saying that Garlean airships had been dropping linkshell pearls in cities telling people they would come to know harm if the turned over anyone connected with the beast tribes.

"The stench of shadow lingers still", I believe is referring to the Shadow Eaters mentioned only ONCE in the entire story, that being at the end of the quest "Toll of the Warden", when all the beast tribes are fighting each other in Thanalan over the crystal trade and suddenly flee from this cloaked individual.

This figure appears out of no where and is NEVER seen nor heard from again through out the story:

No one, as far as I know, knows ANYTHING about this thing or where they come from. Something I am aware of is that they either seek crystals (Diaspected?) or they seek something even more powerful present in the story.

The Garleans, on the other hand, seek to destroy the beast tribes by poisoning the minds of the young and getting them to join their villainous cause. 15 years ago they destroyed Ala Mhigo and then left without a trace. But now, for some reason, they have returned. Everyone knows this already, so I won't bother going any further into details.

The 6th Umbral Era is when the planet is at its end and returns back to the beginning in order to repeat the cylcle over again. (The cycles of Eorzea are found within the books available to players on the front desks of the Arcanist, Thaumaturge, and Conjurer's Guild).

The Imperials, on the R46 mission blurt out the following, "For Calamity draw nigh. The End is upon thee!" Possibly mentioning to either themselves bringing about "The End" or the 6th Umbral Era cycle making its inevitable arrival to the realm. I don't know which.

If you read the text box in the screens below, you'll also notice that their mission apparently is to "Kill the beast tribes" and "Kill their Gods" (primals -Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, etc.).

And all the beast tribes want is more crystals for themselves in order to fuel their gods to protect them from the looming danger that approaches closer and closer. There's to all this, but this is all I feel like releasing for now.

The ship in the last image btw, is the gigantic Imperial Battle Ship crashed in the center of Mor Dhona. This screen was taken 15 years ago, before it had crashed from the dragon battle. It is also possible that this Imperial Centurion in the screens is also the Gunblade wielding Imperial 15 years ago, thanks to the power of The Echo to allow us this knowledge.

I don't know, i think you guys are misreading his words, when he... whatever he is, talks he doesn't say "the stench of shadow" he says the cloying stench of shadow" as in, to much of something good, like cloyingly sweet or cloyingly romantic.

I get the vibe that the "stench" of shadow, smells very good to the big Garlean bad guy.

I don't think they are trying to prevent a great disaster, they are trying to bring one on.

I am very interested to know more of the 5 npcs that do battle with him, and have been saving us since the beginning, where are they from? Obviously they have been fighting the empire for awhile, They seemed to know what he was and were prepared for everything he had to throw at them.

And is what they are doing any tell as to the future of the classes/jobs? the miquote seems to be conj the lala, thm, and the girl (forget if shes human or elzen) is obviously pug. what is the guy with the daggers? I notice he throws daggers more so then melee (I have heard they have hinted of future "Jobs" that will require more then one class to unlock)

Is he some job that will require Glad and Arc to unlock? gladiator I'm assuming for daggers and arc I'm assuming for the mobility, agility and ranged use of them he displayed.

All an all this cut scene and entire quest, has left my mind going crazy, and has really peaked my interest for the storyline and content to come, I cant wait! Big thumbs up to SE on the Storyline and cut scenes so far all around.
