PVP does effect PVE in terms of balancing classes, but I think that's fine. If classes need balanced they need balanced. But it's complicated to do so because you need to balance a class and at the same time balance any PVE battles that might be affected by it.

Personally I think they should section off certain abilities to be PVP exclusive and other abilities to be PVP exclusive. E.g. Say there's a global ability everyone can have that removes all binds/sleep effects (like everyone has sprint) but with a 5 minute cooldown and only available in PVP. Then something like Paladin's Hollowed Ground could be PVE Only.

And we should have a separate armory for PVP gear, and the Action bar's should be independent between PVP and PVE sets. E.g. if I go to PVE gear I get my PVE hot bar setup, but PVP gear and I get my PVP Hotbar setup.

What if you need special mats for PvP gear that you can buy with earned PvP points?
Then crafted gear (with the special mats) can be the second best PvP gear

It's already in the game ...

Otherwise, skills wont be affected much, since a whole lot of new ones will be available and only usable in PvP. I personnaly came on FF XIV after readin stuff about Frontlines and also after I knew that one of the best hardcore PvPers of all time on DaoC is actually the Game Director, that even went to the hospital because he was in an extremely tired state due to his work.

So yeah. I do give a shit about PvE to see where the story is goin, but PvP is where it's at.

As long as they don't force PvE players into the toxic smug that is PvP I'm fine with it.

What producer Yoshida was saying, is that PvP creates a new market for crafters and gatherers.

All that logic will apply equally to another new set of PvE challenges, that could create new markets for new consumables and equipment.

So no, the game doesn't need PvP, the game needs new content and PvP is just an implementation of that new content.

PvE is and ever will be far more toxic than any PvP content will possibly generate. You probably have some ideas on what the self called top pve guilds are able to do or exploit just in order to have everything they need / they can claim. PvP is just about a little bit of Ego but if the community is right, just like here, if anything, it'll be amazing. You re creatin the toxic point of view, with these simple words of your.

Game changes, people changes, PvP changes. Please stop to be stucked at that whole WoW period that is just over and far behind.

Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but no I don't think it is equal.

With PvP and PvE, as a craftsmen you don't only have to craft things for PvE, because now the market will be more diverse. Yoshida's words, "A real, living economy."

For those who don't know because you probably never ballista long enough, I will say that the mechanics of PvE and Ballista/Brenner (PvP) we're different. Just one example. When samurai got seigan + third eye combo, it was broken as fuck in PvP but got fixed pretty fast without it affecting PvE. I was surprised that WoW which was more PvP oriented didn't have mechanics working different.

With that said I have hope in SE to be a pioneer of having a balanced PvE and PvP system that can keep both parties happy.

Yep.. And about time there is an increase in demand for gathered/crafted gear...

People currently get gear handed to them that is "comparable" to gear that is craft-able. Currently the only real profitable way for a crafter to make gil is to craft iLvl 70 gear. As for gathering on a Legacy server? Forget it, because all of us have a DoL that is at 50.. So you can practically buy any gathered item for practically nothing.
