Mainly, this depends on your gear/tank's gear and your personal knowledge of the fight. A few other factors that play into your enmity management is how derpy are your DPS.

A favorite opening move of mine is Divine Seal > Regen.

That is usually enough HPS to roughly match the DPS your tank is taking where you can just sit around and watch the fight. Remember to reapply Regen before Divine Seal wears. Depending on the fight, you might not want to recast Regen in cases where adds pop during the boss pulls. This just comes down to experience and knowledge of the fight. Something to note: Do not pop Shroud of Saints as soon as adds pop. Wait for someone else to get on the mob's hatelist, then you can Shroud if you think it's necessary.

Yes, but you can have the best tank in the world, if you spam Medica II + Divine Seal + Regen + Cure III you'll get aggro, no matter how hard the tank can flash. He's not god.
The healers have to care about party's HP and aggro.
I really hate people talking without knowing, just saying random bullshit they think.
And I suggest to use Shroud of Saints only when you get aggroed by more than 2 mobs, so that you can reduce significantly your aggro in a dangerous moment.
But I never use Shroud or Regen, maybe sometimes Shroud on the adds of the enhanced Colossus in CM.

I use shroud and regen all the time in dungeons like ak/cm/wp. The way I do trash pulls in AK is to just Divine Seal + Regen the tank after he's grabbed the mobs. If the tank is geared that is all he will need to survive and I can just help dps, otherwise just toggle cleric stance on/off when needed. A few holy and then Shroud right before you pull is nice dps as well. It helps the run go a fair bit quicker if you help dps instead of just standing around I find.

yeah whms are too dump they can't hide their heals from mobs..
Us master race Scholars are not that stupid, mobs can't tell if we are healing or not so we don't get much aggro, plus sharing hate with pet? Genius.

    get on our level whms!

Use your Unicorns on the Battlefield !

Or sign up a petition for a fix like that:

Any White Mage should not do a Paladin's job in their crappy gear!

    Let us end WHM discrimination!

Since you mentioned 8x and talked about add aggro:
    I assume you mean CM

A lot of those fights are scripted so the adds go for the healers on purpose. No matter if you cast something or if you just stand there and sneeze. Nothing you can do, except be prepared for some pounding and hope that the dps/tank are/is picking up the adds.

In such cases it's a good idea to stay close to the tank when the adds spawn so he can pick them up faster.

In regards to normal enmity management:
It's a great idea to cast Stoneskin on the tank when the last mob during chain pulling is about to go down. This gives you a bit of a buffer to not have to cast right from the getgo when he approaches another group of mobs.

Keep an eye on the enmity indicator icons - during trash fights. Going red = trouble.

Also nifty enmity regeneration table per WHM skill

Urks no, I don't agree with your post at all. I think WHMs are more than fine. Insta cast changes would make WHM way too OP.
