Races you would like to see added in the future

Also, Vieras aren't in FF9.

I'm strictly opposed to seeing Viera or any other past FF race in FFXIV as it'd amount to nothing more than lazy copypasta. Let's get something new in a potentially vast and unexplored world. Padjal anyone?

With all the fanboyism going on in this thread, I'm utterly disappointed there wasn't even mention of the CC races such as Yukes. You call yourselves FF fans? (Not that I'd want to see any of those in XIV either outside of weird cameos.)

Awesome as that would be, I really would prefer a totally new race.

Also, there's the whole -I'm not sure if they have actual bodies or if they're just possessing various armors and gloves, also how would that work for a game like this- thing.

Sorry to slightly pressurize your bubble, but "Mammalian demi-beastmen" won. Viera where just an example (Though they are being "considered").

If you really insist, but I can assure you it's not garbage its common knowledge now;

They mentioned in several Live Letters that 'Viera' were proving VERY popular, but Yoshida wasn't 100% sure on how you could create a male Viera character without it looking too feminine, and then there's other possibilities for beast men races and the like at that stage it was only something the development team had started the gorund work on and that they'd discuss it 'more in future'.

However for this first Live Letter it seemed to be a quick mention on the likes of a beastmen race, dragons or something unlike the usual in XI or XIV.

This. The ingame content about the Padjal seems more than interesting, and I'd love to see them come as a playable race. Or at least some form of actual substantial quest lore surrounding them.

I'm torn on that, I can't see the developers going for something 'in-human', for the base-fact that they'd have to re-model EVERY single piece of gear to fit them, for example;

There's no variety in the existing races - we have what are essentially small, medium, and large humans, and a human with ears and a tail. It's only really height and weight that separate them. So, I'd be against the whole Viera thing too; they're just sticking ears on different body shapes.

I'd rather they added a true beast race, like the Amal'jaa, rather than a Roegadyn with elephant ears.

Edit: the big problem with the mixed races is how it happened. How exactly did a Mi'qote mate with a Lalafell - or a Roe with a Lalafell...? You'd get the world's tallest midget...who'd be regular human-sized.
