Someone hits it on the nail. Thank you.

I thinking slowing progression is fine, but I get really annoyed by people completely misusing words because it's a catchphrase coined by forumites of another game and now applies to "Not doing it the way I think it should be done."
I am going off the fact that you are defending someone that wants gear to be retrieved faster from simply grinding tomes... and the myth cap increased to access the highest lvl gear even faster.

Why are you giving so much credit for grinding tomes?? That **** is a joke because anyone and their Mom can grind tomes. There's a reason why not everyone makes it to turn 5, yet the amount of people that complete the myth cap is basically the whole server population... You are only going considering the time invested into grinding tomes. I'm going by actual merit and ability, and skill. It takes no skill to grind tomes, and the amount of time and stress to grind is NOTHING compared to defeating a hard raid that requires at least 8 people to be in perfect coordination. There should be no lvl 90 gear available except from coil, but they have made it available for anyone with a pea brain that can do AK. In conclusion, this token system is not necessary and should not even be used. It is just free "give me" system that allows more casuals to eventually get geared with no hard effort. Even the the relic quest is a bit too easy, and I believe that there should have been more weapon options before the relic was even possible to achieve. Probably beat Coil, then you can get a relic would have made more sense. It only takes 3 weeks to basically achieve the best weapon for your class, go figure. All you have to do is beat a Titan lag-fest fight with 8 non-retarded people.

To conclude this and TLDR, yes it is considered work to grind tomes. But, you must realize that anyone can grind tomes, and it only takes a few hours. A raid takes a few hours as well, and even more when a FC is learning the fights. Which one requires more work? Getting 8 people to learn multiple fights with multiple mechanices, or running a dungeon mindlessly with random people for a few hours every week? Hmmm? Who wants less work for the same reward? I wonder.

I haven't seen anyone bring it up yet, so I'll just do it myself since it's coming eventually anyways:

Actually, the weekly cap in WoW is 1000 valor points, and the vast majority of items cost 1250-2k+, so it takes 2 weeks or longer per piece there as well.

I know it's ridiculous! You should be able to get max lvl, full af2 and relic+1 in like 1 week, right?... RIGHT?

Welfare is for people who are too lazy to join a raid. Grinding tomes is an easy free pass compared to the real raid "job". If you were homeless, you still have to walk over to the food place that gives you food. Same can be said about AK.

Merriam Webster 2nd definition of Welfare
    2
a : aid in the form of money or necessities for those in need
b : an agency or program through which such aid is distributed

Simply, FF14's welfare is for the people who are not capable of doing hard content; they need help and someone to hold their hand through hard content, and all they have to do is walk through an AK dungeon 8 times a week. I fail to see how you cannot grasp this simple point that grinding tomes is not real work. It is just a simple freebie handed to you to help catch up to the hardcore players in ff14.

Another thread about someone wanting something with little effort and no patience ........
I mean what is left when you have everything ?

I mean at what point do we get to have Goals and Time + Effort to gain achievements ?

I mean Work in Real Life is for the most part a Grind 9to5 , most do the same thing everyday for 8-16hrs a day 20-100hrs a week .

If we went by the logic that Grinding was bad , everyone would be jobless and no work would get done.

Grinding is not hard , its ment to be there so you can work towards something . If you have no real work to gain anything , than its no longer a point to play .
Eventually you will be ALL 50s and by God if they give you everything , you will have nothing to do but quit............

Ok genius given that they can already get the tomes by grinding what aid is given by allowing them to grind more per week? Think about it. Nothing. Will they get something faster? Yes. Did it aid them in any way in getting the item? No. Thank you for posting a definition completely invalidating your point. Can they do raid runs for said gear? Sure. The point is that they don't have to whether they cap it or not. Give it up. You have proven you don't have any idea what the actual term means, hell you even posted the definition and went on a rant to prove you had no idea.

Artificial gating to keep you paying a sub, this is an MMO after all, the cap should be per job not per char though.. or else why have all jobs available to 1 char?
