It's situational, in some cases you need the flexibility of the armory classes instead of job to clear something.
1.0's Riven Road Hard (Nael Van Darnus Hard) would be the best example of this situation.

So the answer is no? 1.0 was built from the ground up for the armoury system with a Job system tacked on top of a shaky foundation. ARR is not, so why implement it?
All it will do long term is give SE headaches because instead of having to balance content for just the Jobs they will also have to consider possible Class combo's to. It does seem as though SE's way of dealing with that though is to just make Job superior that way they don't have to worry about people using Classes. Which if thats the case why do we still have them?
This situation with SCH/SMN being levelled off the same Class really irks me though as I personally can't wait and hope DRK gets implemented at some point and I would hate for it to come off LNC or something and I only have to do a few quests to be a Level 50 DRK.

Right there with you. Early on I thought DK might come from Gladiator, now that I'm entering the endgame I really don't want it to happen that way. I want to have my Paladin and Dark Knight but I don't want to just get a lv50 DK as soon as it drops, seems like its to easy. Also if its a DPS its going to suck for me to switch back and forth with all those bonus VIT points I got.

I have noticed that some of my actions for the classes I had at 50 were missing. Maybe because they introduce you to certain skills and abilities during the class quest most people ignore(unless you do them for the job quest). It's impossible to skip class quest to receive the job.Agreed, the system is broken. Right now classes are just training-wheels versions of the full job. I've yet to have a reason to ever go back to a class, despite claims of classes being more well-rounded. So, while I don't agree that they should be done away with, it would be nice to see a bit more of a carrot there for playing your base class aside from paltry perks ...
There's a purpose for classes and it's not going away.

THM is by far the better soloer to BLM in the field and has all the cnj defensive spells the blm does not. es blm can blast the crap out of things but the closer you get to the limit with which you can win a battle the more the defenses become important over the DPS difference since when you are on a razors edge fight you are not one-2-3 hit killing even with the max BLM can put out which means you need to survive long enough to actually kill the target.
