WAR as viable DPS?

Let me preface this first:

I know I'm a tank.

I know my DPS isn't gonna be epic... Ever.

I play on PS3, and therefore, do not have a parser. I also haven't been able to get much in the way of solid figures from other party members.

I am specifically interested in this as it pertains to the Titan HM fight. It's hard to find a group willing to take a warrior as a tank for this fight, unless the healers are super skilled and relatively overgeared. So, I'm usually stuck with using duty finder... That's ok with me as I've been in DF groups that have gotten him to about 30% and feel that eventually it'll be doable in DF easily. However, I'm curious to know if I'm a viable member of the group or should just jump off and be less of a heals burden.

So, my question is... If a warrior goes into this fight in particular, dressed in AK Disciple of War gear that is tuned towards strength and skill speed (ie. Peltast or Hetoiros), can they be a contributing member to the group? Let's assume that they are dodging what needs to be dodged, etc...

if you're going with Tank, 3 healer, 4 DPS... no Warrior isn't going to contribute enough damage to take away from a slot that could reduce damage (Virus / Rain of Death) or have a melee limit break (dragoon / monk).
If you're going with Tank, 2 healer, 5 DPS... yes you could treat Warrior as a DPS although it would be easier on the party to have a full DPS there instead

I've seen a DPS Marauder before, yes, Marauder and not Warrior. And he parsed quite some high numbers :v. Was always above 250 DPS iirc :c

My friend can do -decent- war DPS, but his marauder dps is really really good, crazy burst with berserk (our whitemage purges the debuff after). His biggest issue is he generates a crazy amount of agro.

So MRD is a better DPS than WAR? Almost sounds silly just the notion of it :s but i wouldn't put it past SE... not one bit >.>

Still haven't used it in actual play, but when I switch to Marauder my strength actually goes down. A few other stats are affected, but none of them go up at all... Am I missing something?

Marauder DPS can be decent, but it's extremely bursty. You'll need to be very careful of spiking threat. You also need to be sure to use the major cooldowns when you get uninterrupted DPS time on the boss/gaol (as a sidenote, make sure you have everything up for heart).

All that said, there's no reason why a MRD can't be the 5th dps in Titan.

I got my warrior relic by going as a DD. We had 2 healers, 1 pld tank, 5 DD (including me). The dps was not an issue at all.
