This current discussion in the topic reminds me of something I read on Gamefaqs when doing some searching for certain keywords.

About a month ago I saw a thread on the gamefaqs FFXIV forum for the Pc version asking when the game was coming out. The poster didn't know it had released because he had never seen any merchandising or advertising and was genuinely shocked that it had been out for almost 6 months without hearing about it. Of course the thread then deteriorited into a bunch of gamefaqs trolls slamming the content and claiming things that had been fixed as far back as decemeber. But its gamefaqs whatcha going to do.


The point is, in the US and europe they did a piss poor job advertising the game which might save them if they DO advertise for the PS3 launch.

The Japanese players keep to themselves so that won't add anything to the game for me to be honest community wise.

on topic the only game I know that shut down it servers and relaunched their game was cloud nine previously holic. From what players said, it was done due to the amount of hacking and botting was going on and it was the only way to do it. Oh and the game evony..... due to the bullies. (which was called something else in beta just when launched had a name change.

that GTA game i forgot its name, APB i think? Also got shudown like less than 2 months, but is being relaunched as f2p.

EA, RTW, Steam, or the people who bought the rights to publish it as FTP. They all refuse and say one of the others is the person responsible. Worst 60 bucks I spent just to recreate Velma Dinkley and run around in a mystery machine shooting bad guys.

Oh wow no refund? that's pretty bullshit. Makes me respect SE for not charging us (even XI got 1st month refunded!).
