Challenge is subjective. When you say "you must be bad if you think it's a challenge" generally mean you assume challenge = constantly dying.
Things are legitimately challenging, just like promyvion's were a whole new world to players at the time.

What lol like talking to a brick wall. I'm just saying DM was not challenging, sure maybe first time as you're completely clueless but after that first run I never died or failed after. And my friends would usually do the same strategy, the only time it got "tough" was when randomers came who have not done it and messed up or a tank DC's, but thats not challenging just dumb luck lol.
Promy was kind of challenging due to limitations.

mana burn was simple once you learned it, as it is in EVERY GAME.![]()
mana burn was aoe >> sleep >> aoe >> sleep (run if need to) aoe >> sleep to death. or if doing singled targets, get a puller and nuke the crap out of it. Pullers were generally rdms, brds, cor.
Games are subjective based on the player. Everyone here can say world of warcraft was easy mode. While other people may not think so. (and no that dosn't mean they are bad players)
I've been in more then my fair share of mana burn parties. I also have a ton of gaming experiance. Once you learn how to do something in a game, any game it becomes routine. FFXI was a highly routined game, this was due to all the cookie cutting that went on with in the player base.[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.]

Where you're wrong: Read my original post and look for the part in brackets where I state clear I did not Mana Burn and I also stated that it was even impossible due to being patched.I've been in more then my fair share of mana burn parties. Also at your previous post, you need to learn XI's roadmap because you're way off if you think it had 1-2m before WoW was launched lol it only hit 2m characters by 2009 (not players) and only peaked to 500k players by 2008.

It was a while...... for starters if I am wrong with the time line, but I used mana burn as a personal example of what You was saying. Which is what I was agreeing with. @ xat. That isn't true about ffxi. they had 1 server merge well before abysea was launched. And not a ton of ppl quit during after it launched either. The game was slowly dieing out. People got most of what they wanted and left. Or other "more fun" games were launched. Also it was 500K >> 1-2 mil >>> then trickled down after WoW launched. Abyssea was a pretty big hit with players, and this was proven by ffxi having to fix congestion issues in port jeuno on all the servers. And only a handful of servers are merging. It isn't like they all are. All SE wanted to do was make ffxi more accessable. One major flaw with ffxi was looking for a party in general was a time sink. It should not take a player 6-12hrs to form or get a party. And they were running out of ways to fix it. Abyssea isn't all that bad. And the story line is pretty good. Just sucks I can't play it.
This was due from people requiring certain party set ups Or needing people to join before they joined. (which was stupid)
I can't tell you how many times I tried forming a part after waiting 3 hours to be invited into one, only for ppl to say or ask
p1: do you have a rdm, brd, cor?
me: not yet
p1: then ask me when you do?
p2: how many member you got?
me: justy me atm
p2: invite me when you get 4--5 others
p3: do you have a tank?
me: not yet
p3: invite me when you have a tank.
Sorry the but ffxi players started to get chips on their shoulds or bad attitudes for petty reasons. Pretty much becoming premadonna (sp). Heck after a While I just duoed with my bf at the time (now my ex) or solo'ed fov pages. Which I ended up being a reason for nearly quiting.

Sound like that mini game in FFX-2 to get the tourists out(<link), they all have a requirement like not too many, has to be the second person to join, etc lol..This was due from people requiring certain party set ups Or needing people to join before they joined. (which was stupid)
