    Cutter's Cry Chimera Question

So I just cleared Cutter's Cry for the first time today, and I felt really bad for our awesome healer. I understood the rules of the fight well enough when they were explained to me, and yet despite running as soon as the text popped up I almost always got hit with the ice attack. Any tips on being better at avoiding that thing for future runs?

its mechanics are like clockwork, keep a mental count or remember what point of your rotation between strikes and be near the borderline between safe and nonsafe areas a few monents ahead of time so you only need take one step either direction to avoid it

stand at max hit box range this way you don't have to run far to get out of range. just stand as far as you can while still could hit it.

One of the things I've learned about tanking in this game is that you really want to learn to take advantage of the hit box. Most of the time, you want to be at max range.

And you may already be doing this, but if not, learn to turn with your mouse, not your keyboard. A mouse can turn you on a dime, almost instantly. With the keyboard, you waste precious nanoseconds.

This is important. I was having the same problem you are having, except as a Warrior. I also found going left or right as opposed to back or forward was much better in terms of getting out of range.

Thanks guys! After I posted this I started to think that perhaps I was just standing too close to the boss in general, so it's good to have confirmation that I probably was.

Standing at max range is good when bosses have point blank circle aoe's. But when they have frontal cone AOE's it can get you in trouble.

You should stand at max range on Chimera (since it only has a side cone in addition to its circular aoe), and say, ADS. But standing at max range makes it harder to dodge White Breath on say, Hydra or similar bosses. On those bosses you should stand as close to them as you can without turning them, as it minimizes the time you need to run out of the breath cone.

OP is a monk not a tank so im pretty sure he/she would not want to stand infront boss in most cases that meant we could eliminate aoe frontal cone attack .

Not *entirely* certain it's the best way, but what I do on this (or any fight with circle AE right close to boss) is:
    1. Stand max range
    2. Turn my camera view 90 degrees so that I'm looking at the side of my toon.
    3. When AE begins, hold right mouse button and strafe to side. This causes toon to instantly turn 90 degrees then run sideways away from boss.

In this way you're both using the shortest path away from boss (backwards) and the faster run speed than if you were actually walking backwards.

ADS in coil, relic Chimera... Lots of mobs in game where this is an important skill.
