Make the game harder, leveling take longer, and create more time sinks, when this happens the game will become more social.

P.S. Remove the ability to solo level unless it's a craft/gathering class.

WoW is nothing compared to FFXIV.
I have never seen such a high concentration of self entitled elitist douch3bags in one place ever. The people playing at top level has a zero tolerance for poorly geared player and zero patience to help new lvl50's out.
My prediction: This kind of community will lower the player base in the long run by alot. Im an ex-hardcore elitist myself (Not anymore because of college) but I was never acting like an *A*hole towards other people to the unbelievable level these players take it.
Parents not beating their kids butts, and little rich kids that think they own the world is what happened to MMO's. I've been online gaming since Ultima Online, the only ones then were guys that had just gotten off of work and wanted to take their frustrations out on people, and it would pass, but now, gaming is chocked full of little peckerheads that need the absolute snot beat out of them to show them their place in society. Online gaming has taken a drastic turn for the worse since WoW and CoD,
Personally I blame meme culture for a general rise in internet stupidity.
At first it was localized to a few boards like 4chan but soon spread to forums and now even in our mmo's we have idiots shouting yolo before ninja pulling then saying lol u mad
The community on this game isn't very nice, that's for sure. I have found some really good players, though, who don't mind taking their time and enjoying the experience. I don't think people realize (or care) that it's just a game, made for fun and recreation.
I've noticed a big improvement in attitudes since subscriptions took effect for most people.
I try to go to lower dungeons and help but I sort of fell like an a** or show off going to a low dungeon in dark light.
I don't think it's a problem with game mechanics or specific games per se.
I think it's a general problem with kids growing up without any kind of respect to others on the internet (or in general). You don't see them, you won't meet them, they won't know who you are so why be nice and respectful to them, right?
That sounds super stupid now but I think there is a lot of education needed to actually teach internet manners (so retarded to have to write this..) but people have to realize that there are other human beings on the other side of the screen and they deserver respect as well.
Not to mention it's the parents responsibility to teach their kids to respect others..something that is really lacking nowadays.
Yet you sling the word "retarded" around like drinks at a bar. Just saying.I don't think it's a problem with game mechanics or specific games per se.

Here's a question for you guys:
Is there demand for a nice-people-only linkshell/FC or even an unofficial server for those of us who want to make sure to play with genuinely nice people? I'm looking at free server transfers and it's tempting to get this going...
