That's not even mentioning the attitudes and all sorts of BS.

Yes, you also have the primadonas who will drop from the group if they so much get a hint of there being someone new or after the first wipe. My point still stands. Be a little nicer to the tank and heals (just show common sense and some respect, not kiss ass or anything like that) and you may see them to be more willing to queue up.

Personally I'm not even bothered by the mistakes, as we all make them and had to start somewhere. It's when people start going "omfg theze nubs suk" and whine and start drama that it becomes aggravating.
Haha. I've only just hit 28 with my gladiator and have already stopped using the duty finder to get dungeon practice. Tanking is only hard or annoying when you're playing with annoying people. I run through a dungeon with a couple RL friends on raidcall and it's smooth as silk.

I hop into a DF group and the bard or blm is running ahead to aggro mobs, blm is using nothing but aoe abilities like my MP pool for flash is endless and there isn't a 5 sec ability wait time for each riot blade to get it back, while in that timeframe he can pop two more AoEs rendering that one flash useless. At the same time the only spell the healer feels like using is medica and the summoner is running through the dungeon with topaz carbuncle out attacking random targets, then getting mad I'm having agro problems :/

Try and be polite and explain things and get a response like 'stfu lrn 2 tank'.

Yeah, I won't be running DF for anything but castrum/ak until I'm geared enough to hop into speedrun parties outside the DF.

I guess they could ban every player who's abusive to tanks and healers but they wouldn't have much of a game then.(Yes the most frustrating part of Healing and Tanking will always be the dpsers saying "why can't you do this!")

One of the most frustrating aspects of being a tank or healer is people underestimating your role. We are much more than just Cure-spammers and armored punching bags. Doesn't help that if something goes wrong in the party the first ones that are blamed are tanks and healers. I'll admit that most of my time on the Duty Finder has actually been fairly pleasant, especially my Garuda fight where the people in that were very supportive and understanding and helped me better myself as a WHM, but I had some weird cases of DPS getting a little too ahead of themselves or tanks wanting to rush into hordes of mobs without filling me in and wondering why we end up wiping.

Make some friends (this is an MMO after all) and enter with them. People always need tomes so it shouldn't be hard to get four people together.

The reason it takes "80-110 mins" is because most decent tanks/healers realise that DF AK is a complete gamble. They would rather form their own parties on their own server than take their chances with DPS and end up not even being able to kill the Psycheflayer.

I think people need to understand that they are playing a MMO. Years ago in The stone age MMOs were social and you did endgame content with your linkshell buddies together. This even solves a few problems like no wait time, no people in gimp gear because you know who's in your linkshell and no leaving and regrouping after the first wipe. Duty finder shouldn't be the to all content in the game.

The only frustrating part about tanking is that most people expect us to be an expert at an instance even during our first visit, never screw up and are perfect in every single way. Once the rotten eggs realise how off-putting this is for aspiring tanks and healers and change their approach to 'sub-par' players, not much will change.

This is only true when the tank doesn't say it's his first time.

Some people think it's embarrassing to admit being a first timer, but what's more embarrassing is to get everyone killed and then say it's your first time. Or worst, I've seen tanks with terrible gear running AK, they can't keep hate and they blame everyone else.

You either do things right or you just burden everyone else.

There's really nothing difficult about it, healing is very monotonous and boring up to around 40-45, tanking much less-so.
I'd recommend anyone to give it a go, there are plenty of guides and people in-world to actually help you learn to play these classes.

    Anyone can do it, it's a simple as this;

    Tanking 1-50 is easy.

Make sure your party know which mob to attack! Mark those mobs with signs.

For example PLD: [Fight or Flight > Shield Lob > Spirits Within or Circle of Scorn > Fast Blade > Savage Blade > Rage of Halone] Depending on the situation throwing a flash or two in somewhere is handy.

"Oh, SHNITZELZ i've lost the mob it's attacking the healer!" Provoke and throw your either a flash or 1-2-3 blade combo onto it.

The tank should ALWAYS go first except for very certain circumstances (Such as using a limit break to open a boss fight by a Caster or to pull something too far from the tank)

    Warrior (Sorry, not sure enough)

    Healing 1-50 is easy.

Prioritize your tank. Yourself. Then the damage.

WHM : [Protect] Cure or Cure II. Keep Regen on the tank. Medica/Medica II when a few people are getting too low or very low. Make sure to keep an eye on your MP and use Shroud of Saints

SCH: [Protect] Physick/Embrace the tank, Succor the party, Adloqium if a big hit is coming up on the tank, or lustrate the tank at later levels. Manually controlling your pet, placing them in the right area and setting them to obey can make certain fights much smoother. Make sure to keep an eye on your MP and use Aetherflow

Had a 2x relic +1 dps and a new tank last night....the tank was struggling to maintain aggro (no surprise) and asked those two very nicely to let him pull/get some threat....then these yokels started verbally berating him to no end. Well the tank got upset and quit.

"Man, I waited 2 hours for this dungeon! What a baddy for rage quiting" said one.
"What a scrub." said the other.

At that point I quit as well but not before saying...

"Enjoy waiting another 2 hours, bye bye!"

    /leave

Every problem even if it's DPS's fault is automatically blamed on tank and healers. And lastly, healing/tanking is not that hard but these roles are really not that exciting to play and is main reason why majority of players only play dps. I think the long queue times for DPS proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
