    Watch.
    • Monk is unlocked by Pugilist (OK. That makes sense, but what about Thief?)
    • Thief is unlocked b Gladiator (Gladiators are the only guys that use daggers. Fine. Then what about Warrior?)
    • Warrior is unlocked by Marauder (OK. Then what about Dark Knight?)
    • Dark Knight is unlocked by Thaumaturge (Fine, then what about Black Mage?)
    • Black Mage is unlocked by Conjurer (Then what about White Mage?)
    • err ...
    • (... and Paladin, and Red Mage, and ...)

Run it through in your head and you'll see. No matter what jobs you use, as soon as you try to introduce Thief it displaces another traditional Final Fantasy job.

    There are only three solutions:
    1. Scrap the Armory System completely (which very few players want to do).
    2. Do not have the Thief Job in FFXIV.
    3. Do not have Job and Armory Classes tie into each other one-to-one.

Since Akihiko Matsui just stated that the Armory System is not being scrapped, that only leaves option #2 and #3. Which of those two option do you think you would prefer, personally? That is the question.
Unless each CLASS unlocks multiple JOBS.

    Your mind is blown.

Which is what I believe Cairdeas is trying to say in the OP.
