    Assuming the fact that nobody can honestly say "i didn't know" about the RMT spamming, if people on non-legacy servers begin to sell goods at exorbitant prices (unless you buy gils), and if they succeed to sell them at such prices, seriously, i can't imagine one second they didn't think they probably had business with someone who had illicit gil.

    I think they fully understood the situation, but they didn't care at all. They were only interested in their profits, not in the "healthy economic model".
    Not buying gils but gladly accepting them from players who bought them from the RMT... don't play innocent afterwards, buying gils with real money is prohibited, as well as fencing.

    Sure RMT spamming is a nuisance, sure you can't prevent people from buying gils (but they soon get their account hacked as a reward, let that be a lesson for them).
    But if people begin to lower their prices, to an affordable extent, then people wouldn't even think about buying gils.
