hm... all buffs + Barrage = biggest burst from auto-atk any class can do, plus using skills at same time is biggest burst class during those 10 seconds.Since when bards got "burst"? They work as spamming machines not burst like DRG, You cant kill titan stone prisons like a DRG could.
I can only agree on mobility and its a very easy class as spamming machine instead of hardcore rotations(there is but not like other classes)
Because of mobility it can be very strong we see many battles that arent melee friendly or it takes a lot of movement.
But i have seen AWESOME monks and Blms on damage parser.
I just wanted to go back and add to the OPs points on the flip side.As a DPS, bard has almost everything.
1. Ranged DPS, only class need DEX
2. Very good single Dmg, top 2. (230+ DPS from 5 mins result)
3. Very good aoe DMG, top 2
4. Very good mobility, no need stay at same spot to wait 3 sec casting.no position need.
5. Very good burst Dmg top 2. (330+ DPS from 30 sec result.)
6. Best group skill top 1. (Sound)
7. Most popular job
8. The Easiest dps job to find a group
9. The easiest play job
10.best cc class. reliable silence make every group want to get 2+ bard for coil.
What else? I mean Jesus why SE love bard so much.
1. Who cares that it's primary stat is... You realize it being the only class that uses DEX means there's less availability for it. Tanks can share armor, DRG and Monks (CAN, probably shouldn't always) share armor, same with casters. There's only 1 dex DL ring while there are 2 STR DL rings, so this doesn't mean SE loves BARD.
2. Good single damage, that's fine but actually we have some of the lowest scaling and start to fall behind in good conditions for other classes, we stay AFLOAT because we can move...
3. AoE its fairly costly to AOE as a bard, do some AOE and get them numbers then sit at 60 tp for a while until invigorate comes off CD, its not a pro of the class.
4. Yes, we have good mobility. That said, we're also the only ranged that can't use sprint effectively.
5. Good burst, I'll give you that, but only due to stacking a bunch of 2-3 minute cooldowns. Generally our numbers aren't very impressive so its not as fun except this window, but you're right.
6. Songs have a diminishing effect based on armor. Technically Mage's Ballad best suits WHM and Foe Requim only does anything for BLK. So our "big" utility is to do 20% less damage after a 3 second cast so the healer can have a bit more mana back, or wait for 3 seconds so the mage can hit a bit harder if you have one with you.
7. Popularity isn't a reason to nerf a class, this is a prime reason why you need level headed people to handle class balances... This isn't a popularity contest. Summoners aren't played enough so they should 1 shot every boss?
8. Sure, maybe it's a relatively easy class to get a group with, but if the group wants a melee limit break, guess what, those classes don't exactly have it hard getting groups neither in Mor Dhona. Really, no one does.
9. Easier job to play, depends. Summoner isn't all that hard. The melee have (imo) too many positional attacks, I'd be more inclined to say they made melee more difficult than necessary and it'll really show when people realize they can't get combos off in PvP. Fix the other classes don't nerf Bard that works fine due to poor design of other classes.
10. Bard have terrible CC... BLK can aoe sleep!!!! An interrupt is not CC, it's an interrupt. As far as that goes I feel that either monk or DRG could use a silence, I'd rather more classes have a silence to fill that single role than nerf bard's diminishing DPS because of it. Its a burden to be the only class that can do that.
Different perspectives, bud, different perspectives.
I'm a Bard, and you don't see me making threads like:
Bards need a sprint like other ranged classes that doesn't use primary resources.
Bards need an aoe sleep like BLK.
Bards need pets.
Bards need a full powered "Mantra" since we're the "support class"
Bards need a stun.
So on... Know why? Because it doesn't! Different classes... If you are SO envious of Bards, play one. Everyone's happy now.

Bards trying to justify themselves is hilarious, even more funny though is trying to sensationalize and exaggerate their "downsides."

Sorry guys, but the melee classes don't have anything to complaint here... I see dragons hitting critics for 700 when my highest crit is 400. I know that the class is much more dificult but the rewards are there.
I know that can be annoying for the other cast classes that have cast times but the esence of the archer is throw arrows like a machine. We don't have the best dps in the game, but we are able to continue doing damage 90% of the time for our mobility this thing is why we are doing the SAME damage as the other classes, so... I think that the most of the people here is complain because wants to be able to move out the target and be the best dps without anyone else near his damage.
It is rather humorous isn't it? It's that way in every MMO though, the OP class defends itself tooth and nail...right up until the point they get nerfedThen they cry and move on to the next fotm class
I like how the OP class isn't top DPS at END game (not early 50) nor top AOE. Every class in this game has a niche, Bards is that they can move while attacking at ranged, but their damage isn't OP. They scale less than other classes. So... o.O
Seems like I'm missing something here. Are ppl complaining about future PvP balance? This was a PvE game last I checked. WTF difference does it make if classes are not doing the same amount of everything? Especially when every character can be every class! This discussion makes absolutely no sense. If you want to be the same as a bard then play a bard! This is along the same line as ppl that wanted to take out sprint because they didn't want to sprint so they felt no one should be able to. Grow the #@%^#$$# up ppl!
