Raising the bar: Leetism standards and how it affects everyone else

Final Fantasy XIV brings out the worst in players and raises the bar well above standards of acceptable more than any MMO I have ever played. This is because the game rewards over gearing and does not reward players with top tier gear with a challenge which requires it. BCoB rewards are a complete joke for the time invested. The random dungeon finder needs to reward players to a point that it is worth a random group over grinding just 1 dungeon over and over. (WP, CC, AV are all viable end game 50 dungeons if SE tweaked them correctly.) Players with maxed gear need something of worth to invest their time in. End all be all players are just down right nasty on this game which is unfortunate. SE has a serious lack of end game material at the moment, and has easily the most terrible pacing for gear farming in many years, but its the players that are making this game hardest to stomach.

Patch 2.1 will introduce two new hard dungeons, a new raid dungeon for 24mans, and the extreme primal fights. It should, hopefully, help.

If their requirement is high, they simply get less population to join them.
If their requirement is low, they simply get more population to join them.

So what? it is their choice, if they shout for their own party, they can set any requirement as what-ever they want.

Your missing the point, people require relics because its a pretty good benchmark for excellence. Maybe less so than in previous weeks becaus of sale runs. But pretty much if you've beaten Titan you're going to be a decent player.

If you don't want to require that of people that is your choice. Make your own party grab what you need and go. The problem is the people playing core positions (tanks and healers). Don't want to deal with new people. There is no benefit to them.

That being said if you directly ask someone to help you and are very polite you will probably get the assistance that you need. But you have to keep in mind that you need their skills not vice versa.

While I agree that it is their own choice of how to play their game, these single choices, when added together, affect the world overall. This is my first mmo, and I have noticed some elitism. If you don't want this game to lose support, you'd think that as a whole the community would understand that shunning new players is a bad idea. But if everyone acts like selfish children, then this game will lose support, and there will be less people playing.

A good player is just a good player, a great player makes those around them better. Besides, most complain about how boring the grind is when they could easily mix it up by helping out a few new players. Who knows, they might become "good enough" to dungeon with you someday.

Last time I checked, Michael Jordon didn't go out and play street games with scrubs and hustlers because he was too busy acquiring Championship Rings with the pros.

Since when did "elitism" become an excuse not to put in the same work as everyone else for equal achievement? It has nothing to do with shunning new players and everything to do with playing with equally capable teammates. Do chess champions go to high school chess clubs when they feel like playing a game? Does it hinder the chess clubs because they don't? No. Is it the champion's responsibility to train others? No. Get over it.

Its like people getting upset when they try to join a motorcycle club on their bicycle and get turned down. You are not entitled to join any party you please.

When I hit 50 I didn't auto queue for AK. I ran Wanderers Palace for a couple weeks to get better gear, I knew I wasn't ready for AK. I put in effort so others wouldn't have to carry me and we wouldn't struggle as a group.

Is it wrong if I expect the same? I can tell you right now I've left parties because of undergeared players and I will do it again.

If you come into AK wearing your lvl45 gear and lvl20-30 accessories, why would I want to bang my head into a Demon Wall again and again?

AK has bosses setup for gear checks. Both the Mind Flayer and the Demon Wall (moreso) are DPS/Gear checks. If you can't pass it, don't queue.

I don't consider it elitism if I do this... I put the work to further my character, so should others.

Gotta agree, OPs outlook is too nosy for my tastes. Like a overbearing parent at a PTA meeting deciding what's best for everyone's child.
