Did you actually read my post ? The exact point i'm making is that it isn't a simple code fix like certain people seem to think. I'm not trying to sound smart, and unlike some other posters I'm not making ridiculous assumptions that I know the specifics of the code base of the game. I do however have a technical background and several years working experience in a similar field, and this is exactly why i know that these probably are hardly ever as simple and generic as people like rac25 like to make out.

You're right it is not as simple to fix as some make out, however neither are many of the issues anywhere near as difficult as some like to make out, the reality is the games industry is shoddy, standards are often low, which is also partly why the pay is pretty poor.

When other industries put out products in the sad state most MMOs are released in they at best get a hit to their reputation and lose business, at worst they have to recall millions of products, or end up in court / government inquiry.

The problem with the game industry is there is a lack of incentive for them to do a good job, as people continue to buy the products, regardless that as software they are a joke and as a business, the game industry is small in the grand scheme of things so doesn't attract the attention of government, regulators, etc in the same way as big business does.

I believe your talking about v1.0 Conkers. I don't think they spent millions upon millions to remake a game just for it to be low standard and 'shoddy'. I do believe they attempted to create a great game, and they did. If it isn't up to your par, go play one that is.
It takes a long time to make a game so big, and changing anything will have ripple effects throughout, so nothing can be done without making absolutely sure it will not affect another aspect of the game. Sure some things are easier than others, some things will be fixed and some won't, but unless your on SE payroll and going to tell me just how easy or difficult it is for you, I believe their doing the best they can.

No, I'm talking about the game industry in general, of which MMOs are the worst offenders. When I say shoddy, I don't mean the devs are not trying, I mean very often they are underresourced or having to follow priorities dictated from above that put other concerns before quality, which results in the buggy, sub-par products MMOs generally are.

And no I'm not on the SE pay roll, I do work in software and the game industry does not have a good reputation, low pay and poorly resourced, hence working in the games industry it is often regarded as a labour of love.

Incidentally games, even MMOs are not big nor complex in the world of software, software in defence, aerospace, engineering, finance, oil/gas, etc, makes MMOs look like "Hello World".
