You can still bring items over that might affect the economy of non-legacy worlds adversely. This is exactly my sentiment. They seem to think that having a 1.0 character automatically makes you 'economy breaking mega rich'. Most players aren't like that. There should really be a better criteria for transferrals. A good benchmark would be what level of wealth you had when 2.0 launched. If it is over a pre-determined threshold, then you are deemed dangerous to a new economy. If not, then you should be free to move. Many MANY new players are far richer than I am.
Besides, as I said in a previous post, they cut 1.0 gil down by 9/10ths, and they are limiting how much gil can be transferred. What’s the problem here?
Lordparanoia: --> An official announcement is said to be coming on the Lodestone regarding when the five day free transfer window is opening. Keep an eye on the homepage. They also post some info on the twitter account which can be useful.
Sorry to say, but you'll be stuck on legacy worlds for around half a year unless you feel like starting over on a new character.
LOL ... no. Everyone has the same number of slots and retainers so I don't see this as an issue. There is already a gil limitation on transfers, so this is also a non-issue. RMT has already broken the game to the point where it will make little difference if a non-legacy server is all of a sudden inundated with Legacy refugees. For my part, I have no opinion either way, since I've started over on a non-Legacy server, but the whole premise of "affecting economy" is just a red herring considering the state that it's already in (which is to say, it's not looking pretty at this point in time)
In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and even dare to suggest that Legacy wealth may actually counterbalance the RMT, and bring down inflation on all non-Legacy servers.
