Dude, im slightly a step up from "casual player". since release, taking 30 minutes a day to craft some items, i have managed to rack up over a million gil doing this. you can get that amount of money if you know what you are doing. and if you grind ToP, you can sell the items for over 80K. opportunities to make gil are there...you just arent seeing them.

Maybe, but that still doesn't explain why the sets for DRG and BRD cost more than 3x as much as for PLD or WAR.im going to take a guess here, but the reason that the crafted armor is so much more expensive than the darklight is because, well, it can actually be sold...literally. when you buy the darklight armor, thats it. you and only you can use it. where as, the crafted gear you can trade and sell. that means that if for example, darklight armor could be sold like the crafted gear, I could sport FULL darklight armor without ever setting foot in one single dungeon. Hence, Darklight armor is only available to people who grind themselves, and thus "cheaper"
its the free market. those prices fluctuate a lot. one day some items are worth a lot, the next they are work close to nothing. it basically depends on demand and supply

I'm pretty sure it has far less to do with "the market" and a lot more to do with the materials involved in crafting those pieces. As I said before, the price of Coke is outrageous and you need like 9 of it for a single piece.

You need at least 9 of the endgame crafting materials for 1 item, but that number can go up to 27 depending on the item you want.
27 Materials for 1 finished item is just too much.
They should lower the number of endgame materials to a maximum of 9 for every part of armor and 4-5 for accessories.

You didn't even look at the spreadsheet, did you? Those costs are in philo tombs. They're not purchased on the market.
One can buy Coke / Potash / Animal fat / etc from the AH.
One can farm Phylo tomes and get the items, sell them / use them / pay a crafter / etc.
What`s ToP?

This was in regard to the cost in coke/potash/etc. not being equal, (i.e. legs for one job need 9 coke, while another set of legs takes 27 potash) which is broken, clearly. Recipes need to be adjusted to use equivalent amounts of materials so that the costs are the same (material wise) from piece to piece (i.e. a head for drg takes the same number of EG mats as a head for brd).
The point isn't where they 'can' be purchased but rather how many need to be used for any given craft. A ring that costs 18 coke (2050 tomes) is absurd regardless of whether or not you can purchase the coke on the market, when placed side by side with a DL equiv that costs 375 even being meld-able doesn't make it worth the time/gil.
ToP = Tomes of Philosophy
They do need to 'adjust'/'normalize' the recipes, costing more is one thing, having costs that vary wildly from one class to another is something else entirely. Accessories that cost on the verge of absurdity makes me a sad panda.
I crafted in 1.0 and was looking forward to doing it as my source of income to support my once lavish lifestyle. Sadly the recipes for endgame and speed leveling, which kills the early~midgame markets, have made it a real turn off.
