That's because you choose to ignore a major aspect of the FFXIV: aesthetics. If it was League of Legends or Path of Exile, I would agree with you, since those games have 0 focus on aesthetics, they look like sht.

In FFXIV, a hell lot of attention has been put in aesthetics. The aesthetics and the music improves the feeling of playing the game, aka gameplay. Therefore it should not be in the item mall, period.

That is just your strong opinion, thousands would disagree... you can't please everyone, but you can please people without breaking in-game balance.
