Crafting... Why are we doing it?

I like to keep my equipment up to date so every time I level I check the spots where i'm missing and I buy crafted gear but I don't level particularly fast so it works out great for me. I would like to thank the crafters that actually put stuff on sale at all levels.

Vertical progression makes gear stats boring and flavorless and the easy race to endgame makes anything >lvl50 pretty much irrelevant. Given enough time, all players will look exactly the same because there is a clear 'BEST' gear in the game per job. Sadly, Yoshi is highly in favor of vertical progression as well as turbo-leveling, and so that's what we have to work with.

Let's hope that as the cap is raised, we see gear progression begin to branch out (ie, more interesting stats) and crafters become a vital component in the procurement of future gear.

Even materia with new stats could be a game-changer in this regard.

Agree right now crafting is pointless, I only hope that in 2.1 they will have better cratable gear and hopefully it won't be as insane to get the mats as the ilvl70 stuff.

I would much prefer to see the mats drop in CT, housing will have A LOT of craftable stuff also.

Actualy i don't see why to buy DL gear.. because once you get into the coil you get new gear and u will destroy all your DL because it's obsolete

I like to craft armor and weapons for my Scholar as I level. Sure I can just level up on dumb FATEs and get quest gears but thanks to having good armor my dungeon progression has been very smooth. So far the worst dungeon for me was my first encounter with storymode Titan but I hear people having issues even before that. Usually it's because they are under geared. People say gear doesn't matter until 50 but in fact it does and it has made a difference in my story progress. But yea to each their own I guess, I can definitely see crafting being "pointless" if you like to run dungeons to farm for gear (which I do not.)

Why, because I'm leveling multiple classes and not just one. It's a great way to supplement gear for all my classes wihout paying the over-inflated prices for HQ gear at the AH.

Over inflated? for lvl 1-50 leveling gear? seriously? Are you on a legacy server or have you just never checked the AH's prices? lmao

Same reason not to spend crazy gil or time getting ilvl70 crafts, but that doesn't stop some people.
