I still say banning 100% of players is the way to go. It's a foolproof method for catching every botter, RMTer, and exploiter, guaranteed. I don't see what could go wrong.

If you had to choose between a million dollars and saving your best friend...what would be the first thing you'd buy?
Kill 'em all and let Hydaelyn sort them out?
I cannot help but be struck by the contradiction. In all likeliness they have been tracking the logs of said players to see HOW they obtain this gil and who they are interacting with. If the logs are showing exploits or regular collaboration with RMTs then of course they would be banned... Get more information, then come back and complain about what you do know...not what you don't.
Quite simply, there is no evidence whatsoever to support your claim. However, there is good reason to believe that crafters with a certain amount of gil were banned, and that magic number has been estimated as a collaborative effort by those who were and those who were not banned. As an active crafter, I know people who have large amounts of gil from plying their trade who have been MIA since the 27th as well. Similarly, I know a few who are intensely wealthy but whose gil is in items, and they were not banned. The correlation is undeniable.
See! I knew this would happen! *puts tin foil hat on* People told me I was crazy for thinking SE were gil farmers and it was all a conspiracy! They are now banning/suspending rich players and taking their gil? Coincidence.... I think not :P
I've just been reading some of the post through out the ffxiv community today (reddit, here, BG). I love this game and there are lots of quality of life fixes that need to happen(a faster blacklist feature since you're to lazy/cheap to monitor your servers) and I'm willing to give them time to implement changes. This scares the crap out of me! Look at how SE is handing this PR nightmare. Almost over 50k views and 400 replies and there hasn't been a single response from a SE but they are commenting on stupid vanity crap all day.....wow......
How come we used to hear from Yoshida all the time telling us how he wasn't going to let us down and make sure the XIV lived up to its brand name. Now that the game is released the communication is a fraction of what it was. Some of this stuff is so minor and easy fix but they just continue to ignore it.

In ffxi they would tell howmany users were banned and the amount of gil deleted from the servers after each bann waveIt has been 72+ hours now since the first wave of (temp) bans. I have yet to hear of anyone getting restoration of their account. If they are still investigating, maybe they should have investigated a bit better before the bans. If they are done investigating, I expect a Lodestone announcement proclaiming how many were banned for RMT activities. Right now there seems to be many accounts in limbo.

I'm interested to know how many RMT salesmen are online sending tells right now. Can anyone get online and comment on how active the salesmen are today?
