A response needs to be demanded by everyone from SE

This is in regards to this thread. Which is currently the largest thread, stickied, and responded to by well over a thousand people. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...P2P-throttling

SE has been grossly negligent in communicating with it's NA data center communities. Going so far as to go above and beyond routinely deleting threads. There's a point where cleaning up spam threads stops, and silencing legitimate and ignored concerns and complaints begins. And no, blaming those particular offices isn't the answer. SE put these people in charge in that area, but it's SE's responsibility to make sure they do their job. And to find other people to do it if they can't.

This problem was present in beta phase 4 and early access and we've only gotten a single response, that they're investigating and nothing else.

This supposed IP throttling theory has never affected me with any other game and I can't honestly imagine why it would for FFXIV ARR. At random times I'll have the game running perfectly. Half the time though I will have animation and render delays upwards to 30 seconds long regardless of surroundings and activity. I love this game to death, but I won't defend it. Not when I am barely capable of playing it because the game won't actually let me play.

This is a plea to other players. We need SE to respond, we need something to restore a modicum of faith in the company. Don't just reply with your IP, location, etc in that other thread. Reply here or make your own threads. Keep it as civil as you can. But we all know frustration needs to be expressed, to let them know how much we care.

My best friend is suffering from this and it's preventing us from playing with any kind of regularity. This has been going on since head start, and we're both at wit's end about it. An update would go a long way toward making the wait more bearable

To be honest the fault is 50/50 between SE and these ISPs.
On one side we have a game that makes traffic that looks like P2P (is that even possible?). On the other we have ISPs that on 2013 filter P2P, and they are doing it wrong since they are blocking a simple game, with the excuse that they block piracy while the same technology is used for a lot of legitimate things and at the same time some of those ISPs even try to sell subs that offer P2P access! It's a shame. None should limit you for the resource you are paying for. And don't believe them when they say that they limit traffic because their infrastructures are not capable to support the demand.

That's straight bullshoot. This is 100% SE. I've tested my ping and download speeds while the game was running and they are totally fine. The issue is in the way clients are routed to the server through different gateways

Ya sure, because SE controls which gateways are picked.

You clearly have no idea what this is about if you mention 'ping' times as having any relevance here, and also your quaint idea that SE's servers can control the routing your client's packets go through.

    /rolleyes

This is 100% the ISPs' fault, they're the ones screwing-over their paying customers by throttling bandwidth instead of providing the service their customers are paying for.

I'm in the UK with BT. They throttled P2P but after SE and players raised the problem they re-configured their throttling system to treat SE's server farms as games and I've player perfectly for the last four weeks on two servers many are saying are lag-fests: they're not, they're fine.

I actually talked with my ISP and they said they have done no throttling at all. How can you say ping times don't matter when that is directly what the issue is (relating to the astronomically high pings to the game server?) You can try and sound as diminutive as you want and white knight this obvious SE issue, but the fact still remains that this is not a client side problem.

My contract with BT before I renewed my contract was adamant they wasn't Throttling my connection but they was. Try the Glasnost test to be certain. Best to try from about 19:00 as It's more accurate http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php

A ping packet is 32 bytes big and looks in no way like a P2P packet so of course it's not filtered.
Your ISP can filter P2P, lower your bandwidth, both. Even if they tell they aren't check your contract. Whatever they say by phone means nothing until there is something written.

Ok, but if my P2P was being filtered wouldn't I notice it in the most obvious way, torrenting? At peak hours I can download any torrent with a decent seed ratio at speeds upwards of 5MB/s. Streaming videos all play fine at 1080p. I am noticing literally no loss of speed or having corrupted downloads; the only issue is this specific game. There is also a thread with almost 80k views and over 1000 people posting the same issue.
