Actually, 'boring' is about the worst thing a game could be in the history of ever. They could tweak something to fix that. Maybe give paladins that power off the gcd so they can be doing stuff other than standing there waiting to click one button. Quality of life changes matter.

This. The fact I sit there almost the entire time with just auto-attack waiting to push 1 button again and again and again and again is what ticks me off.

Ifrits attacks come in a predictively order and if you have done the fight as often as you have said you would of seen a pattern granted waiting for the 1 st one is a bit annoying but after that you can pretty much predict them for example when Ifrit starts doing his two plumes pre nail he will go like this plume eurruption plume you can almost always get a full rotation in after an explosion. Or here is another idea play the roll of debuffer while you are waiting for eurruptions keep blind up, keep str down up (assuming the other tank is a warrior) or you could throw out little heals here and there or stoneskins if you have conj leveled there are lots of things you can do to keep your self occupied/ entertained. There have been times when I had to let a fresh 50 mt Ifrit and I do the interrupts . It's a crucial part of the start for df stratagey you are there to make sure peps don't take unnessary damage. GL on your Ifrit weapon

I think it's more fail that people depend on stunning Ifrit's eruptions to beat him.

Some of those stuns are almost nessarry such as when you are moving to stack behind him. Of course you could try to coordinate a stack with a df that they would not run up until after eurruptions but gl in getting a df pug to do that

He won't use Eruption before the Vulcan Burst at 80% or so (which is normally done right after an Incinerate - you'll see two in a row if your dps is decent).

After each Eruption, you have time for Fast Blade => Savage Blade => Rage of Halone, along with your Circle of Scorn and Spirits Within. Then the Eruption window opens and you wait.

Other fixed patterns to notice in the fight are

Pre-nail: Radiant Plume > Eruption > Radiant Plume
Post-nail: Radiant Plume > Radiant Plume > Eruption > Radiant Plume

After each Eruption (or during Radiant Plume/Incinerate casts), DPS to your heart's content. Then get ready ...

Solo tank as a PLD and just know the god damn rotation for jeeezus christ! The only problem I see here is that you keep on going into the same old party that uses two tanks strategy in an ifrit HM fight or DF. If you want to be a PLD, then play it to its full potential. If you get in the same party that uses the same mechanic, no need to complain or blame the way SE made PLD.

Ifrit's a mechanics fight. When done right, it is boring. It is also relatively quick.

Hang in there, champ. Garuda HM is much more exciting for you.

    Wow, get over yourself.

    Here's MY gear:

    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/1619630/

And I STILL gladly and happily play stunbot in HM Ifrit or Chimera fights when friends ask me for help. I have nothing to gain from the fight whatsoever and I still do my job.

Doing your job right is its own reward. Welcome to being a tank.

If you don't like it, may I suggest a DPS role?
