FATEs reduce people's IQ levels

Personal rant but, would healers at least remember to heal in FATEs? I just tanked the named fate Go, Go, Gorgimera and got hit by one of his attacks half my health gone. I was on this half health for a good long period of the fight and not a single heal was thrown my way. Sure enough due to latency I got hit by another of his attacks and down I go, the train proceeds to finish the boss off and leave all the dead people behind. Oh and I got a silver, was there from the start and tanked him the whole time.

TLDR: Heal your tanks please? Not all of us are terrible like the ones you find in duty finder.

Were you in a party? If not try that next time. Healers are afraid to heal because it may or not be as effective as doing dmg. I hear a lot of healers that say if they only heal they never get gold.

I wasn't no. However always being the target of the boss should make it a lot easier to heal me since I was always it's target. Also group or not is no reason to leave myself and a few others behind dead on the field...I love tanking but if it's getting to the point where healers are afraid to do their job and just go DPS, I'll role a healer myself as soon as I hit 50 which should be in the next hour or so.

If you're willing to tank a notorious monster in a fate, and you're not in a party, then don't get mad if no one heals you. Remember, these are people that have no connection to you, they could careless and honestly, they're not required to heal or revive you. If you want to tank in fates, and expect heals, then join a party. I see no reason as to why a healer should sacrifice rewards to heal or revive someone. It's nice when they do, but NEVER expect it.

Working on my CNJ now and I heal random people all the time in the fates I've done and still get gold, no they weren't in my party and I even got thanked for the heals...thanked for heals? Clearly there is an issue since I have NEVER been thanked for tanking.

I just run around spam flashes and fast blades to tag enemies. Don't care if 10 people chain die in front on me, its pointless to tank.

I also always do FATEs in full groups, even there people drool on their keyboards.

I'm dumbfounded that you think i give a crap about what you do as a healer. I'm also not the only one that has said 'healers get less rewards'. If you don't care about receiving a smaller reward, well that's you, others aren't the same way.

Again, IF YOU'RE NOT IN A PARTY, THEN DON'T COMPLAIN! more often then not, those healers are in a party, and guess who takes the priority over you? their party members. You're a fly on the wall to them. So if you don't want to die in a FATE cause you're not getting healed, then let someone else tank it. Simple as that. And as someone that has tanked, many FATEs, even as non tank classes, not once have a whined about not getting healed by random people.

Suddenly you are on the offensive basically insulting me because I have a problem with healers not healing the main target of the boss in fates? I turn the boss away from everyone, avoid as much damage as I can, stun if I am able to to stop others being hit by red stuff and try to position as best I can. What thanks do I get for it? No heals, left dead on the floor due to one mistake and a god damn lecture from you about how I shouldn't expect any heals at all because you are all too lazy to click on the target of target and throw out a cure. Thank god I've leveled my tank class to 50, never tanking fates again if this is yours and most everyone's attitude towards them. Then you guys all wonder why good tanks are in short supply...

Also I have never gotten "less rewards" for healing like I said before, I pretty much always get gold for throwing out heals and actually made friends by doing this, can you say the same Mr. I only heal party members?

There are a few factors that contribute to healers not healing during a FATE. There's truth in what Slatervonjager says about priorities, though. For most of the healers (and player in general) I've encountered, it goes something like: reward > party members > raises (after FATE) > heals for strangers (during FATE).

I personally think it's a flawed perspective, as myself and like 2 or 3 others on my server are soloists that sacrifice rewards for others' benefit. If you ask, you'll hear that healing others takes time to find them and select them out of a group of crammed characters and letters - time that they could've been spent just spamming Stone II or Aero. I think it's flawed perspective because people constantly doing FATEs might not have realized you can click on the target of targets name and heal, mouse-over, and that the cooldown system gives more than enough time to refocus on enemies again before the heal even casts.

It's easier and more user friendly at lower levels, as you've probably noticed as a CNJ, and you'll get the gold without a problem. At higher levels, even your priorities might start to change when you have to worry about blinking bosses, anticipating AoE's, timing your heals to not get too much aggro (helping out the tank ^^), keeping track of procs, buffs/Esunas, and other things (I might be overexaggerating the skill level of some FATEs, of course XD)

For many healers the prize is gold medals and exp. For altruist healers, the reward is nobody under 50% health and no deaths. The best you can do is recognize them and make friends with the right ones, because you'll be able to call them up any time you're in need.

This is... Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

FATEs are flawed by design if this is the mentality being espoused.

There is something wrong with the design behind FATEs and this is exactly it. The fact that healers aren't rewarded for doing their job is a flawed design and should be changed.

To think that the only way to contribute is to do damage is a flawed assumption. And counter to absolutely everything the rest of the game tries to teach the people who play it.

FATEs throw away everything you learn in dungeons. Everything you learn in Guildhests.

And yep, FATEs lower people's IQ.

I sincerely hope something is changed to encourage group play in FATEs.
