    as a paladin i can place 3 debuffs on bosses myself, as a monk another 3, as a dragoon 4, as a summoner there's 5-6, and bard and blm dps would suffer quite a bit without their dots applied

    basically in crystal tower, summoner's just won't do damage to any boss where all 3 parties meet up

    24 man means everyone can only have 1.25 debuffs on enemy. And debuffs are not only dots. Dragoons have 2-3 debuffs pending fracture use. They also have a slow that applies a debuff so maybe 4. Many jobs have more than one debuff so a boss will be capped too easily in a 24 man environment.

    Because fates are the only content bigger than 8 people. wait until there is content designed to be difficulty for 24 people, and the smn's are unable to keep their dots up in a situation where it will matter.

    They mentioned that the three parties will be separated for the most time in Crystal Tower, only meeting for bosses maybe and such? Might be their way around this, lol

    Won't do damage... Sure, not like summoner has summons to deal damage with or anything...

    Don't get me wrong I've nothing against the idea of removing the DoT cap but I think some people are overreacting.

    It actually does when you are dealing with 24 people in a raid, unless SE have made content that splits the group up or has multiple mobs it is pretty limiting.

    You are missing the point, have you played a SMN yet ?

    70% of their damage comes from dots, you take that away and SMNs are no longer wanted for 24 man content.

    As others have mentioned almost ever class has a debuff of some kind and it effects all of these from posion to blind, so slow, DoT, everything, and I'm not even sure if this is taking into effect monsters own buffs on top of that.

    FATEs aren't balanced for 24 people and only 24 people though, unlike crystal tower, perhaps they have taken this into account though when making these boss fights, but all I see from this is we don't want SMN because their damage sucks and it will be through no fault of their own.

    All of summoners main damage comes from DOT you kill that their damage goes down the drain. So they will not have a place in 24 mans if summmoner was actually a pet class and got most of the damage from their pets we would not be having this issue(yes I am upset at summoner being a dot class)

    sure they can DO damage, but you are losing a hefty percentage of your output. it would be like a pld tanking without a shield; sure he is still a tank, but he isnt doing his job as well as designed
