New record today, [edit-18!!] blacklisted (so far)! And the rest of the shout chat was people being annoyed by the spam.

Actually, on Levi, I haven't had much of a problem with gil shouters in towns. I think the shouters were actually dealt with (popped into Limsa today and not a single shout). However, i am noticing an increase in /tells from gil spammers. Yesterday, I blisted 8 tellers. Today, a whopping 15 different names that /tell their spams to me. I don't know how random keyboard smashed names keep finding me, but it needs to stop.
Today I blacklisted some spammers, added on to my already 105 list... only to have them show up again later on! Verified that yes there were indeed added on my blacklist. What voodoo is this??

If removing then re-adding the spammer on your Blacklist doesn't resolve, then logging off and back on should. At least it works for me on Adamantoise on the rare occasion when it happens.worst i just discover something horrible, the blacklist bug, time to time, if the bot spam a lot, the blacklist let pass message.
it did happend two time a couple of minute ago on ragnarok in gridania.
bug or not is a serious matter now, if they can make the chat bug more by this spam they need to take action really really fast.

If you do a player search and not enter a specific name, it will pull a list of 200 names. The default selection is World but you can specify by location as well. The search gives general information about what the player is doing (watching a cutscene, in a battle etc) as well as level, class and current group affiliation. Very informative really.Actually, on Levi, I haven't had much of a problem with gil shouters in towns. I think the shouters were actually dealt with (popped into Limsa today and not a single shout). today has been the worst day since long , had to block 20 spammersthey ruining this game , and encouraging me to cancel my subscription ...

I must be made of a different mold than you guys. While i find it annoying, I take measures of my own to counter it. I have turned off shout chat (not ideal but temporary until they can get things under control) and just blist the ones that send me /tell and report them at the same time. I dont spend much time near the highly populated areas anyway so I dont get much of this.
I've been living with the internet and tv for long enough to ignore random commercials. Its an Issue, yes, but I'm pretty sure SE is aware of this by now. I know they have their hands full with server stability, New content coming, a PS4 Beta they are working on and so on. I know they are taking steps to counter this because I can see the complexity of RMT gibberish becoming more and more desperate. i have confidence SE will take care of it in due time.
Until its fixed I will continue to have fun and enjoy the game in spite of the RMT'ers while doing my part to assist in whatever way I can. I know getting upset about it helps nothing and leaves me in a foul mood in the end. No point in letting them ruin my day, I do that then they win.

That's great for people who don't care about city shout channels, but not so great for crafter's looking for work or people looking for melds or basically anyone looking to form a group on their own server or otherwise communicate with others.

Nice cherry-picking of my post. Let me finish that sentence for you.
I too understand the value of shout chat and this is not a solution I would prefer to use but in the current environment, the cost outweighs the gain. Its also a personal choice and I'm not saying that its something everyone should do. While it is quite annoying right now I also know that it wont last for the life of the game. In time, it will become much less and I'll once again reopen my shout channel. But thank you for pointing out value of shout channels.(not ideal but temporary until they can get things under control) and just blist the ones that send me /tell and report them at the same time.
