That's exactly why MMOs constantly have issues with Tanks and Healers not evening out with DDs popularity wise. There's so much pressure for the tank and healer to exceed in their roles whereas the role of a DD is pretty laid back. No one likes dealing with that kind of pressure especially with random groups. This in my opinion needs to change and make it so that the DD role is also equally important.

But it is equally important? Whomever thinks otherwise is talking out of their butt.
