I get more angry when people don't speak up stating they're new. I'm more than happy to explain things to people. That way they can pass it along.

I am an advocate of giving people the gift of doubt, and have usually done my best to guide new people through stuff whenever I've encountered them. Sometimes it's awesome to see them pull through with relative ease thanks to your explanations, like the many times I've led even people with white weapons and full AF through AK without a single wipe. It just feels good. There's times, however, where you find new people that just won't listen no matter what - the sort that just stand in aoes, pay no attention at all, and just wipe over and over, only to come up with "well excuse me, I'm new here". Whenever I encounter that kind of people, I'll always be the first to quit. New players should at least try to learn as they go and listen when someone explains to them.

But I don't want to ask people to skip the cut scenes. Not when they are progressing through a story, it sucks to have to go and watch them elsewhere afterwards, it's anticlimatic. And I get it you aren't suggesting that people should skip cut scenes. Many people aren't aware that you can watch them at the Inn. I wasn't aware of this until this week. Let people know they can do that and I bet they'll begin to skip them as well. Honestly, there shouldn't be cut scenes in these dungeons...but yeah, let people know.
As for the cut scenes being in the dungeons in the first place, it wasn't a smart choice from Square Enix I agree with that. Running the last 2 8 man raids over and over again and having to wait for people to watch the cut scenes every time can be frustrating. But then it means you used the Duty Finder and you can't blame people for wanting to enjoy the story.
SE might have been silly for putting the cut scenes there, but they ARE there. If people want to skip through, do like many are doing, announce you are trying to put together a speed run and form your group, but don't force the people on Duty Finder who want to complete the story to skip them.
Anyway my point wasn't much about the cut scenes but about the impatient attitude of "veteran" players. If they get annoyed for something so trivial, they'll get annoyed for a lot of other little things and that makes first timers nervous.

Honestly this is the reason I haven't done halatali. My highest level is mara at 25, and really I'm afraid of being that crappy tank since mara's already have that stigma. The game's community is too toxic, don't think I'll do end game anything until I level everything and things die down.
what makes me sad about people quitting on new people is that their excuse is they don't want to 'waste' time explaining stuff.
you're not WASTING time, dammit. the people you explain stuff to will soon KNOW what they're doing. the less you explain the longer it takes for the 'general community' to catch up
so when you say you don't want to 'waste' time explaining, what you really mean is that you prefer it that only a 'selected few' actually know how stuff is done.

whats a mara? I'm assuming its a term borrowed from another mmo but i honestly don't know.Honestly this is the reason I haven't done halatali. I've had a new tank in Amdapor (i've joined in progress). I explained the first boss fight, then the demon wall, while he wasn't too talkative and interested in my explanations.
When we got to area with Succubus, i started explaining about her random AoE and that we can pull her alone to make life easier. While i was doing that he buffed himself and went rushing into mobs.
The fact that he was hit for like 95% of his HP didn't make him listen, so he pulled the next pack, together with Succubus which again nuked him hard.
I said that if he dosen't give a crap, i'll just leave, because i'm not a fan of healing 90% of his HP every time.
And then i got "you're a pompous know it all windbag" and "i will not assist people like you", even though other party members agreed with me.
Even though I never said anything about him having 3.9k HP and inability to hold enmity. I've only tried to explain the dungeon tactics.
In the end he just stood there, because we supposedly are all "better than him because we've been here" and should leave.
That was the last time i've used DF, i've had enough. I like helping new people, but come on

I assume she means Marauder (MRD).
"Look to those who walked before to lead those who walk after."
Its right there in the theme song people.

I wouldn't worry about Halatali. Most people at this point running the lower dungeons are new themselves; re-running for fun and to help other people; or leaches/bots (sadly...)... Toxic people typically don't seem to show up until Toto-Rak and really not many even then.Honestly this is the reason I haven't done halatali. I would help you run it if I had a character on the same world, but I am not and you can't do cross-world parties sadly. You should try and find a slightly higher level conjurer or white mage in your world willing to run you through the ropes if you are really worried, but honestly DF isn't that bad for the dungeons prior to Haukke Manor..
As healer I actually carried 2 DPS through most of Halatali once when the Tank timed out 2 minutes into the dungeon, Luckily we got a new join before the last boss but just to say, it isn't absolutely critical that you be that perfect tank.
And don't worry about the DPS either, just find a good healer. Don't let the fear of a few toxic people out there prevent you from enjoying yourself, nor the fear of failing prevent you from trying. Everybody has to learn sometime.
