Do you regularly hear Canadians and mexicans refer to themselves/called "Americans"? I certainly don't.
Yup they do, also Brazilians, Argentineans, Colombians, Peruvians, and like 30 other countries call themselves Americans....maybe you don't hear them 'cause they say it in Spanish or Portuguese mostly
Actually, I've rarely seen any of those identifying as "americans". Most likely, they will say something like "Latin American", "South American", or just their own nationality. Also, as far as I know, only Argentineans really have issue with people from the USA calling themselves "americans".
Lol...was once Paris, met a hot girl in a pub, started chatting and asked her where she was from, she told me she was American...naturally I assumed she referred to the U.S, so I asked from what state, she told me Columbia, so I wasn't sure if she was talking about D.C. or South Carolina....but no, she actually meant Colombia and then proceed to rant about why I was misinterpreting "American".....will never forget that XDActually, I've rarely seen any of those identifying as "americans". Most likely, they will say something like "Latin American", "South American", or just their own nationality. Also, as far as I know, only Argentineans really have issue with people from the USA calling themselves "americans".
