It is a sad reality that people are prone to generalizations. The only difference between saying "all americans act like ________" and "all black people (or homosexual people) act like ________" is that it's socially acceptable to make negative generalizations about americans at this point in time. I generally just sigh and shake my head like I would any other racists/homophobe/bigot.

Let's put it this way - When people from America travel it's much more likely for them to claim to be Canadian than from the USA. Now, it's no secret NA gamers tend to have a bad reputation (no one can deny this) so while there's good and bad everywhere, when you hear 4chan what do you generally think? It's the same mentality.

    The generalisations run both ways.

I've seen Americans who believe everyone else is inferior and should gtfo "their game" if they can't speak english, I've seen people think any and all Americans are obnoxious slobs living in their parent's basements and if not, are probably 10 with their credit card.

Overall though, there are all sorts of people out there (good and bad). Just people tend to remember their bad experiences more than the good and well let's face it, the NA community is not the best. The nice ones tend to be quiet and/or 'forgettable' (if you know what I mean).

Honestly, how do people know that these bad people are from the US? They could easily be from Canada, Mexico, or anywhere in Europe.

There are people like this from everywhere. That's just how humans are. The few of us that have courtesy and manners even while online are few and far between. This is an issue that transcends nationality TBH.

I know a lot of Americans who go out of their way to help, only queing in DF as a tank and doing runs in progress, making free gear for people who need help, I being one of them... My question is why is it that people are generalizing us based on an encounter with someone who's more than likely 12? We don't choose where we are born.
Thanks Obama. Tomestones of Mythology? More like Tomestones of Obamacare! Amiright? (Seriously, no joke, this is just stupid.)

I haven't really come across anyone saying anything about American players. I'm usually much better of a player than the people I play with anyway. Why would anyone think that a person's location has anything to do with their personal skill? I've seen good and bad players from just about all parts of the world in my time playing MMOs.

Some people look to discriminate just because of past experiences. Those people probably ran into a few bad players, made the assumption they were American, then chose that they didn't want to play with players from that region anymore. They're just close-minded imbeciles that can't see beyond their own delusions. To judge an entire region of people based on the outcome of a few experiences is just plain stupidity.

I judge players individually. Their location on the map is of no importance to me.

If you had to choose between a million dollars and saving your best friend...what would be the first thing you'd buy?
