fates allow for those who dont have 8+ hours a day to xp grind to gain fast XP. Its a viable way to lvl, just like in XI Party Xp grinds or camping NM's quests etc etc were ways to lvl up.

My opinion on this? Mind your own business, let me handle mine, I'll fate grind for cross class abilities.

You can always edit in more text. There is no limit while editing. That’s what I do. =)
Too bad that the sad sods still waste 8+ hours on them. Seriously, grinding is a problem. It’s not a solution. You just pointed out the problem, not the benefit.
How I miss the times when playing an MMO was about finishing the dungeon, quest, story with a team of friends. Now it’s just “Ding”.
Awwww… another somewhat hateful comment that ignores everything that was written in the thread just because the user wants to spam his opinion that contributes nothing.
But more seriously, I would like your opinion on what I’ve written in my last big post. Just because you symbolize the type of player that can be satisfied by mindless grinding, which for me is... well... primitive.

"which for me is... well... primitive"
That's for you. I take no joy in playing an Arcanist. Nor do I get pleasure out of playing a Thaumaturge. I'll fate grind them and enjoy playing a conjurer with the spells that I need. I'll do this while you're in the forums complaining about me getting the boring stuff out of the way.

OH! So you're just getting the cross class skills! Well that's a different thing altogether. You don't even really need to grind much to get those."which for me is... well... primitive"

My apologies. =)
What I'm complaining about are those people that grind the F out of every class to max them ALL out. They are hogging the FATEs, making them a hellishly loud, chaotic and annoying sight to be behold each time you pass by. And most importantly, they get on a monkey-ball rage fest if you interrupt their grind. Even if you just would want to experience the fate yourself.
That kind of a player I find primitive. The one that can be satisfied for a couple of years by just mashing the same monsters over and over, and who gets a rage fest if somebody interrupts them or points out something

see my question was a LEGIT question, Was not trying to be a dick in any way. SE doesn't give u many ways to level. You could grind dungeons, but the que for DD are stupid long. you can do quest, but after maxing your first char to 50 quest are kinda hard to come by. leves work as well but you only have a limited amount you can do. So basically people do Fates b/c its the easiest and fastest way to level, and yes I agree it's boring as hell but even thought it is people will still do it b/c they want to level as fast as possible.
Also BlaineCraner never said you we're wrong but to insult some one for asking a question....come on now, shit is stupid... I didn't really know SE gathered data on each char and to see what they are doing 24/7... I know they did it every so often but not constantly hints why I asked what I did.
In this case, we only have FATE's to level use lol.
It sucks. I am hit with a double whammy because I find ACN to be the most boring class, and I have to be 30 for SCH. ))))))))))))))x
Then I gotta FATE grind. :c -Sigh-

@oneshot
Yeah, I know it was a legit question, and I gave a legit answer. Like I said, leveling to that 8th level to get a cross class skill isn't a problem. That's why you have so many low level leves in starting cities and class-quests. I'm complaining on grinding overall and making the game look as if it's only the numbers that count.
Yeah, leveling>content. So much logic here. Leveling up your char should be a varied experience that doesn't force you to a monotonous, boring, brain numbing activity. The gameplay should matter, not the level. You are literarily pointing out a problem FFXIV has.
Square doesn't actually monitor all player activities per say, because all they need is a server log of how many FATEs the X amount of players on the Y server did in what time. Every quest, dungeon etc can have such data. Even achievements are triggered by those data. They can gather those data once a month, they don't need to monitor players since the game already keeps track of the data. But still, it's data they use in their statistics. The only data that is reliable. It's basic statistics and data gathering, really.
And still, you are getting really butthurt and "offended" by a silly word like "bumbass". Dude... that's a cartoon level insult. Calling you "goofy" would also make the same reaction? What is your problem, dude? o_0
Don't take everything you find on the web seriously, or in time you'll have to get some serious stress medicine or something.

This race to the top with grinding makes me cringe.
It's ridiculous if not pathetic. If you finished the game, then you finished the game and the levels don't matter anymore. You could just wait a little till Square adds something new with the next patch.
For Pete's sake, they are adding Treasure Hunting, New Dungeons, Housing, Hard mode boss battles AND the fricking Crystal Tower in the next patch!
Treasure Hunting and the Crystal Tower!

So much more content both for low level and high level. But no, players prefer the instant grind. It's like, there is this brilliant jewel of cool content that you just have to wait for a little while, but people prefer to get everything maxed out, like, right now, and wreck their brains on mechanical bot-like activities so the content Square gives eventually will be so easy it'll be meaningless. What the $%#@? It’s like deliberately TRYING to make the game suck.
This habbit of grinding looks like a pathetic race to the top. And on the top is the crown of nothing.

Believe me I agree with you . Reason why I only have 1 Level 50 char atm. I did quest from 1-47, fate grinded 2 levels and just wanted to throw my pc out the window lol. Im not spending 4-5 hours a day fate grinding. Also the reason im Leveling crafting / gathering, there are no fates for them just do leves while waiting on a grp on my main. Humans as a whole tend to always want the best and get there as fast as possible. Hell even at 50 SE force you to grind CM and AK to get gear and believe me its boring as hell.
Also I wasn't really offended by the insult. It was the fact you would insult someone for asking a question, Thats what I was pointing out. Basically just saying don't be so fast to insult someone no matter how small the insult is, some people might take the smallest insult in the worse way, you never know.
About the new content, people are just inpatient, and (sad to say) A lot of people are use to the way WoW ran where it basically handed you everything you wanted. I enjoy this game for the challenges. Actually having to work to obtain and item or to progress gives you the feeling of accomplishment (even though leveling is kinda lacking in this department)
