Not in one stroke.
If anything a steel blade could get caught in the wood and allow the user of themacuahuitl to lever it out of the users hands.
The macuahuitl was a very dangerous weapon and its biggest drawback was in the fact that a bladed club is more cumbersome to use than a saber. It may not be as romantic or classical as a sword, but it would be foolish to denounce it for simply being made of wood.

For reference:

The maquahuitl was sharp enough to decapitate a man. According to an account by Bernal Diaz del Castillo, one of Hernán Cortés’s conquistadors, it could even decapitate a horse
Its a cool weapon to have in a game, just needs more decoration on the higher rank versions than just some extra feathers.

You can compete against each other without direct PvP. Holding forts from beastmen. Completing events etc.
The Company doesn't even have to be a decoration grind. It can be far more functional. Like unlocking master crafting facilities. Artifacts that give your company members small buffs like a small mp/hp Regen buff. Special artifacts or materials for your ships/airships that grant access to new areas and mats for your crafting..

This sword looked pretty cool, still never found out if it was 2h.
