I'm a newly level 50 PLD and I have questions

I asked in guild and in a group I was in earlier who had a Paladin what the best stat was for tanking. All of them told me vit. So I respeced my attribute pointes into vit. I just ran AK and I could not hold aggro for shit. This group told me it is better to stack str.

I'm at a loss here, pls halp.

Make sure your gear is up to date. If it is, then either something you are doing is wrong or someone is doing something stupid in your party that is denying you aggro. Make sure you are going in with lots of flashes and circle of scorn, fallowed by the rage of halone combo. Then check in on any other mobs to make sure you aren't about to lose their aggro. Also I'd keep an eye on your healer to make sure they aren't over healing before you have a chance to establish threat, and ranged dps aren't attacking before you.

Everything in VIT. If you are having aggro problems then you need to take a closer look at your skill rotations and make sure you are using your situational abilities properly. STR helps very, very little with aggro, and shouldn't be necessary for you regardless of how much enmity it generates in the first place.

It obviously goes without saying that you should be properly geared for the content you're running, so make sure that isn't the issue either.

It boils down to you either...
A) Not knowing the class well enough
B) Not being geared well enough
C) Getting a bad group that doesn't focus, CC, etc. properly (although you should still be able to hold aggro in this case).

That's because VIT controls your HP level and physical defense, it does not effect your hate values - the only stats that would have any effect on hate would probably be STR and DEX (physical attack damage and attack accuracy respectively). But yes, VIT is the most important stat for GLA/PLD - to hold hate you need to use your abilities effectively and make sure your gear (sword, shield and armour) are up to date. As Eightbit mentioned, Shield Lob, Flash and your weapon skill combos are the most important ways of keeping hate on you, with Provoke a back up in case you lose hate during the fight.

My gear is on par for the content. As of right now I'm only running instances to get DL gear. I've got all of the 50 greens from the instances as it stands. I will respend my points in vit and try this combo out more. I just ran ak with a guy that said to use flash more, it helped in aoe fights alot.

The one group where I could just not hold aggro at all, I believe they were extremely well geared. We killed demon wall before adds even spawned.

I'll revise my combo and cooldowns.

Ok cool your gear seems fine although it may have just been a terrible dps issue in which they were just blowing up their own targets but I would definitely look at a possibility of it being a rotational issue make sure you're marking your targets for a kill order and tabbing your combos while also outputting AoE threat via weaving flash and circle of scorn.

One glaring thing though which makes me weep for your healers the alpine war jacket you're wearing is a terrible tanking option to use and your AF chest (obtained in the lvl 50 class quest) beats it by miles due to the superior itemisation as well as the armour lead it has over it.

Thanks for the information! I went ahead and re-equiped it. I was just wondering the other day if Defense and M. Defense mad a big difference, I supose it does

Def and M.Def are the most important stats to look at on armor, even more important than VIT and Parry etc. Same thing goes for weapons, if you want more damage you want to shoot for higher weapon damage rather than STR.

Farm Ifrit until you have his weapon. Then Farm CM until you have the chest/helm. Then farm AK until Myth Capped, then farm CM more until you have full DL.
