Are we really supposed to grind fates to 50 on sub-classes? No more quests? Alts?

I made the mistake of doing all the quests below level 30 on my main, my Arcanist. I don't even remember doing them all but I apparently did, all the main city area quests, Uldah, Limsa, Gridania, etc. Upon getting 31 summoner I felt like making a bard so I did, had Gridania quests till 20, but after that I realized I would have to grind my entire way without quests after, running around across the map on my mount doing boring fates.

Why does the game have such few quests? Are we expected to mindlessly grind on fates on every sub-class we want to play to get to 50? Is this how the game is gonna be? Because it's really gonna bore me.

I just legit want to know. Should I make a new character?

Hunting Log to 10 mixed with levequests. Add in guildhests after 10. Add dungeons after 15. Mix it up and have fun until daily quests are added in. Why do you think you need to spam fates all the time? You don't.
