Skipping Cut Scenes in Dungeons

I was not trying to troll, nor do I appreciate the assumptions and your needless flaming. I don't farm castrum, I don't care if people skip or watch the cutscenes. I was simply making a statement. It was irrelevant, I'll admit that, but my point was more that just because devs want you to watch something, it doesn't always mean it is good enough to warrant it. Especially since some cutscenes happen in the middle of battle, and if some people choose to not watch it they are punished for it.

Yes, I am aware that speed runners don't think like that, but it's a valid point. More valid than your holier-than-thou insulting of my character at any rate.

If it makes you feel any better I'll change "bad story" to "bad writing".

Besides, just because YOU find it predictable doesn't mean we all do. I personally have become accustomed to not anticipating what happens in stories and just living them in the moment. Every story, whether it's a game/tv/movie/book/poetry is far more enjoyable this way. Everyone should try it.

I wont skip cutscenes. If they were meant to be skipped then they wouldn't even be in the game in the first place! I love FFXIV's story. And if I am new to the dungeon, I am going to watch the cut scenes. If the people don't like it, then I tell them too bad. I play the game to have fun and watch the story unfold. If they give me lip after that, I inform them they will be blacklisted after the dungeon. If they continue getting rude, then they get 0 heals out of me.

I have had tanks leave CM parties before they even start because of new players watching the initial cutscene.

I personally don't care if ppl watch cutscenes unless I am in a hurry. If thats the case then I will just usually leave so that they can find someone else.

The story isn't even that good. Typical JRPG cliche nonsense most of the time, very predictable.

I thought the story was stellar. However I disagree with people saying skipping the cutscenes ruined the final dungeon. I actually enjoyed watching it in my inn room all at once.

This is actually a pet peeve of mine. It's muchly like someone complaining about the food they get in a restaurant, and then claiming that the recipe was bad, rather than the cook, the ingredients, the final dish, or the service.

People who say this sort of thing obviously wouldn't know good writing if it bit a big chunk out of their backsides. Let alone identify the difference between "bad writing" and "I didn't like it".

When that happens, new players won't have anyone to run the instance with. Then all you will see on the forums is threads about how the main story quests are impossible to complete cause no one is running CM and Prae anymore.

If you want everyone to skip cutscenes in Castrum or Praetorium, don't use Duty Finder and make your own party.

In my first CM party most of the players were doing speed runs already. I told them I was new and planned on watching the cutscenes, and they were fine with it. They continued to clear while I watched each one.
