Skipping Cut Scenes in Dungeons

Look at it from a different angle. You label most wanting speed runs, as people who complain about you watching your cut scenes. You're taking the attitude "Well it's MY first time, so I AM going to watch them." That's great and all, but not EVERYONE has time to waste an extra 20+ minutes waiting on you for all the cut scenes. Just watch them in the inn later, everyone wins.

some people are so self-important, they start bitching when even 1 or 2 minutes are wasted.
example from Castrum:
1 WHM went afk while we were pulling mobs before Livia to cannons. i ended up healing alone when we were fighting 2 Colossus dudes. noone died.
then before the Livia cannon phase (second WHM still was afk) i said i'll go to the restroom for a minute.
which led to rants about how i and people like me waste other people's time, let them down, tank start bitching about "what if i left in the middle of the boss",
DRG went on how we "cant do this stuff before the dungeon" and are "slack healers", etc.

second WHM came back, but even when he was afk, noone died. people just wasted ONE GOD DAMN MINUTE MORE, and went mental.
cutscenes are not the issue, that pos "endgame" community is.

I don't have a problem with people watching CSs, but the hostility level really needs to be lowered by both sides...

The only CSs I politely ask to be skipped are the quick ones in CM at the colossus, so we can easily avoid death, if not I'm willing not to skip. I only ask close to them so players can enjoy the previous CSs without feeling pressured, and I've been answered to pretty rudely by various teammates in DF for "demanding a SR", "Demanding CS to be skipped" etc anyway... in which case, if I was so adamant on a SR, I'd have asked to skip as the run started.

I'm sorry for the wall of text, but what I'm trying to say is... ask what you prefer, but please keep it civil, and keep it rational. Be it for, or anti Speed run.

For anyone else that thinks they HAVE to skip cutscenes, don't. Enjoy them, the ppl in DF can wait.

I'd like to put this debate to rest right now. Can we get a DEV response on how the game was intended to be played? I'd like to hear from the DEVs that we are supposed to skip cut scenes when playing through the game for the first time.

Er, no, they can't kick, but jerk tanks are dropping party the moment they sniff a 'newbie', it's the JERK TANKS that are the problem here.

The story isn't even that good. Typical JRPG cliche nonsense most of the time, very predictable.

Everything is a typical cliche in 2013 - Oh did you know the main story's purpose was to level a player to 50?

I haven't cleared my story yet. I plan to watch my cutscenes. Any tryhard who has a problem with that can leave.

You'll end up stuck for quite awhile if you don't run with friends or a FC because suffice to say, you'll end up in Duties by yourself or with 1 other person a lot lol, people are getting relentless with that.

I had a DF castrum run where were actually viewing the cutscenes. Know what I did?

I asked if there are first timers here, and when they said yes?

I said ok, and waited.

Now if there was someone literally holding the group up by being afk in a cut scene that's one thing, but there's more than enough time to go through the dungeon. I gain nothing by quitting CM or Praetorium.

I guess I got lucky, all through the end game dungeons I was able to watch all the cut scenes and down all the bosses our first try usually. And it was a Duty Finder group at that. Just happen to get a patient and well-headed group. ♡.♡

I see a lot of people saying, "Don't tell others how to play their game." and while that's all well and good that kind of goes in reverse. You can't make anyone wait for you either. Even with DF it goes both ways. Want a group that will patiently wait for you before continuing? Get one together on your server. Yes, you can argue that the game was intended to be experienced a certain way, but that won't change people from playing it how they like. I skipped cutscenes myself since I was more interested in the combat than the scenes I can simply watch right after, but that's just me. If you want your group to act a certain way, get one together. You can't really be upset that DF pairs together people with differing play styles.
