How is hitting the Num0 key different from repeatedly clicking the icon? In fact, it's more work if you have to move your hand back and forth between your mouse and keyboard.

I seem to get mouse lag...using the keyboard would be easier even if it was only part of the harvest. I noticed when I'm at a node I am there longer than everyone else..probably because they knew this trick.

Interesting. I'll have to test that out.

If it is indeed quicker this way, I can program one of my mouse buttons as the Num0 key and set to auto-repeat. So basically I click once on the item then hold the programmed button down. =)

Hey, you know that some of us have two hands! That means we can put one hand on the mouse, AND, WAIT FOR IT... one hand on the keyboard.

This should be an option, if you prefer to click, be a clicker, i prefer to press.

/wait 1

and so on? I don't know what the actual term is for the "Swing Pick" part...

Macros are a legitimate use, and have been in every MMO since the dawn of them, to decrease the amount of clicking/pressing. This would not be an abuse by a bot, as you would still have to run to each node.

There are already plenty of bots out there, using pos hacking etc. The gathering system is so simple, that bots are so easy to make. By making it a click instead of a button, doesn't stop those who are able to program the bots.


Implementing a legitimate button/macro/keybind etc. would level the playing field, and remove some of the monotony of clicking clicking clicking...

For me at least, I prefer to use the keyboard more as it gives my right-index finger a break from doing all the work! Work all day, game at night, I am going to end up with carpal tunnel syndrome sooner or later at this rate. Please allow us to make the choice of which button to press (mouse or keyboard!)

Part of the reason I loved FFXI so much was the ability to do EVERYTHING on the keyboard, and never having to touch the mouse :/

Bots are using a teleport hack to get from node to node.

Its got to be easy enough to set up a gathering macro without cheating.

Just running to the next mode is where time counts for me.

I feel little with 2 bots in the same space though, so slow.
