I believe there's a need for a world-wide shitlist, and soon.

cross server blacklist is needed to filter out idiots.
in my long years of MMO gaming since UO these things became more frequent with adition of cross server matchmaking, it cant be helped, trolls and idiots feel more safe when they are not from your server.
I would wholeheartedly support this, especially after instances like the one I originally posted. If they *did* institute this, it would certainly need to have a HUGE limit or no limit, because there are a LOT of people deserving of being placed upon this type of list :/
Most of WoW's trolls spam trade chat in the starting cities, spam general chat in the Barrens or ERP in goldshire. You get the ocassional douchebag in LFG but even then its mostly "go guy" and your random assortment of...people.
Here if you get so much as one new person who's never done AK before, people will actually leave without saying anything. And that's only for starters. >.>
PS: Someone should start compiling the stereotypes and do a FFXIV version of "how to win at pugs"

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I HATE to admit this since I have always loved Square Enix and Final Fantasy series is my favorite game series ever, but this is the worst community I have ever seen in a mmo. I played A LOT of mmo's and yes, this is even worse than everything I've ever seen in WoW. Never had a problem with dungeon finder there. There were trolls but here I feel like 80% of the community is rude. I don't understand why and it makes me kinda sad.I just wanted to add that I think this is the worst community I've seen in an mmo (at least one I've played) in ... ever! I hear WoW can be trollish, but I wouldn't know first hand. Didn't seem this bad the brief stint I had there.
...
SO I know there are good people out there that use DF.But I guess we're a minority? I dunno.

I'm so glad to see it's not just me. It's really disheartening. I see quite a few people (in this post and others) that say "They will be gone soon" and I'm wondering why people think that is? Is it to be expected that a lot of the more negative people will leave once the free time is over? Or is it something else?I HATE to admit this since I have always loved Square Enix and Final Fantasy series is my favorite game series ever, but this is the worst community I have ever seen in a mmo. I didn't believe the DF naysayers when they first predicted the introduction of DF would ruin the community. Well, it has.
The community at the end of V1 was nicer. There's no argument about that. whether this is because the small numbers meant the community was naturally close-knit or not is debatable, but it was leagues better than this.
People AFKing dungeons. People demanding players skip CS on their first run through storyline dungeons. OP's example. Once the new task board system (whatever it's called) is introduced they should just nuke DF from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
SE might need to implement a simple question when someone leaves using the Leave button in DF: "Did he leave for a valid reason?" or such.
Each time "no" is the majority his DF cooldown will increase exponentially. Such attitude is not acceptable.
I sadly have to agree with this. I've been a WoW player for about 7 years, and I can tell you there are quite a few rotten apples in their community as well. But A Realm Reborn really takes the cake when it comes to a downright rotten community. Now, I know I shouldn't be generalizing, especially since I've met quite a few nice people in the DF as well. But really, reading stories like yours really depresses me.I just wanted to add that I think this is the worst community I've seen in an mmo (at least one I've played) in ... ever! Some of you will say: go with fc, go with friends. That aside, assuming I can't, don't want to, or no one is available, DF does happen. I shouldn't be apprehensive about using a tool given to us in game b/c it's filled with....tools. I'm not a tool! (At least I don't think I am!) SO I know there are good people out there that use DF.But I guess we're a minority? I dunno.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this little story. I sincerely hope this isn't a new trend. Tank ques, gets a group in DF, death runs to his favorite chest, does (or ilike in this case does NOT) get what they want, and then abandon the group. If this becomes the new "thing" I'm gonna...um.. well probably do nothing, because what can one do about it? But man, it would suck
I'm hoping the community will change for the better when the free game period is over, so most of those so called "Tools" will leave the game. But yeah, I'm really very frightened of what the future community of A Realm Reborn will be like. Here's hoping I can meet some more nice people on my server, so I can leave the DF behind completely.
There is one solution... to extend the community across servers. This is what I had always hoped 'Duty Finder' would include. If we could /blist, /flist, /tell, or even have linkshells that spanned servers, then we could build a community that would reward good people, and punish bad people.
I am glad we have Duty Finder (it is better than sitting in ul'dah and never going out), but we really need more community features to prevent it from being abused as is described here.
