<- I am wearing HQ Amber braclets, and HQ Amber rings. They are the best rings you can get without drops from AK/Darklight/or Myth Accessories. At least that I can find. Better rings drop in AK but only one chest drops them and it drops rings for every class.

So for me shelling out Gil for some nice rings/neck/earrings was worth it at the time and I think I got all of it for less than 30k (High Quality HQ at that). The kicker to that is I made that 30k selling Crystals I mined up as a miner. In fact I make about 30k a day selling crystals (when I do it) and I usually net 50k+ a weak selling materia.

But as it's been said, this doesn't introduce new Gil to the game, it just trades it around and it diminishes.

The logic is material are used for leveling up, since people are using those materials to level up, they have a greater need value compared to what it makes. When it comes to selling what is made from said material the idea behind most people is to cut their losses rather than to earn no gil back at all. So even if you do spend 20k on materials and only make 10k from it, you're at least making that 10k back rather then being -20k from the materials you purchased.

And this is a big issue and deflation is a part of the reason prices are crashing.
Crafts do need a bigger role in the game, especially at end game, whether it be stuff to modify gear like wow has or temporary buffs in different things. Food and medicines especially feel useless and don't provide significant enough incentives for most people to bother with. Outside of things made for spirit bonding (which will be worth little due to everyone making them trying to earn some pittance of gil) There is really no demand for anything.

I'm curious as to why dungeon gear doesn't have materia slots, at least none that I've seen anyway. They put so much work into the system and leave it out of the gear everyone is working towards except crafters.

The very earliest top-level crafters were able to rake in the dough by virtue of that fact. Things have since changed quite a bit; speaking at least for myself, I now think of leveling crafting as an investment into possible changes yet to come. I can only hope that such changes do indeed come =( There certainly isn't much redeeming value in doing it now (besides a chance of pace from endgame grinding).

I've seen bots farm up near 1000 mats, put them on market board and quickly crash that mat's market value.
Lately it feels as if the Gil sellers and their mass farmers control more of the market than actual players.

The prices of relic-materia has dropped by roughly 40% on my server over the past week due to increased supply from AK speed-run removal, but no increase in demand. Regardless, it is still easy enough to make 250k a day off the market board (albeit from other players)

Watch as I cast into the freezing water and steal their wallets full of gil with my hook. You can't STOP me from taking your money after I HQ that hook.

    AH-HAHAHA.

Yeah, I was away for one week and when I come back things that were worth 5k are now only worth 100 gil and aren't even selling. It's like they made crafting in it's own little bubble where it's irrelevant to the rest of the game. I knew it would be an issue that ALL the best gear is from dungeons, I don't know how they couldn't see this...

Here I am again, she notices something is missing. Will it's true, she's missing her purse full of gil I snatched with my HQ hook. She won't even know it was me!.

What I think everyone should bear in mind here is, this game is barely 2 weeks from release. We've not got any idea what true end-game will be.

This is all fluff and speculation at this point, but It's truly not the end -yet-

A little patience, some prudence, harvest your own mats, sell them when you can, make things other crafters need (namely tools), sell what you can to the DoW/DoM folks (Yeah, there's still some bits they need, namely jewlery/potions/food, melds, relic bits, and repairs too)

There's just too much gloom and doom in this thread and absolutely zero looking forward.

Y'all make me sad. The economy, well yeah, it's unbalanced, but hardly in the state I see described in grim detail here by folks that don't harvest their own mats.

That makes me very happy. Buy the ones I harvest.

I may not make millions at it, but I'll certainly stay afloat.

This game has the worst economy I've ever seen. I hope they fix it soon.
