And guys like you that just spit out random stats with no backing and tell people to LRN2PLAY do just as much damage to the class' integrity. I'm not saying you're wrong, but your attitude is piss poor...as are a couple other people's in this thread.

As i stated before, it's DPS application is constrained by the fact it's DOT. Based on previous posts, it seems to be great end game when you are constantly going up against big baddies...but I personally would like something that's fun against trash mobs as well...and that, DOT is not. I'm currently a 34 SMN, and don't have time to bum rush to level 50. I don't want to spend the next 16 levels playing a job that only tops off it's damage at the very end of dungeon that I waited 1 hour queued up to the DF and another 30 minutes to run.

I would like to point out that damage parsing for dots is currently broken. if you add up rotational potency for the dps classes, summoners are a bit gimp. this is coming from a lancer who looks at parsers a lot.

You need to realize you have Fester - 300 Potency

You have a pet that is doing 150-200 damage (around 100 Potency attacks from Garuda I believe)

And you can cast Ruin all the while your DoTs and Pets do damage.

Your damage adds up tremendously over the course of a fight.
