Do healers have a place in PvE?

Fates aren't only hate based.

There are alot of things you can do that allow you to get gold.

Tagging a boss first = Gold (You literally don't have to do anything else)
Tagging 20% of all mobs = Gold
Spamming Instants on ~ 30% of the mobs for 50% of the fate duration = Gold
Spamming Aero on a single mob till OoM = Gold

Of course you can try to heal, but that means you'll have to kite a ton of things usually.
Or you can spam other spells, but Aero is the least mana intense.

Anecdotal. I've tagged Cancer first and not pulled Gold on that fight, even while dumping a full MP bar into him.

I was solo at the time. I thought tag + full dps would be insta-gold. Alas, it wasn't. So there are some variations to the rules above.

Finding a group makes getting gold for CNJ a million times easier, and heals help out a lot too, I also didn't have too much problems spamming aero or stone.

Im confused your thing says you are lvl 50. If that is true, if its a group of mobs, run in the middle of them and spam Holy. Gold every time. If its just one mob, spamming Stone II always does it for me. I must admit before 45 I did have trouble getting gold, once I got holy at 45 though.... plus its a pretty spell

Group+AoE heal spam=problem solved.

I even end up tanking the bosses it draws so much aggro.... >.<

Would love to know how when leveling my ACN yesterday I tagged Cancer and DPS'd him the entire time pet as well ... yet still only got silver. Tagging doesn't mean a sure gold. hell I've tagged 3-5 mobs in fates and still not get gold before.

We were discussing the Cancer fight outside Costa del Sol (Fate name "It's not lupus" or some such), which caps you in your 30s. Holy isn't any use if you can't cast it.

Even when you can cast Holy, it eats MP, has a long cast time, and other classes are going to prevent you from doing 30% dmg to a single target - usually needed to trigger personal XP gains. You can still Gold a fate, but you could have done that with concerted Stone II casts.

This "holy isn't really great for FATE kills" issue is less a concern for us 50s, but definitely affects CNJ and the up-and-coming WHMs. Best option for them is to make a mouseover Aero macro;

Put that puppy on your hotbar, and RUN (do not walk) towards where targets are spawning. Toss that at anything that pops; get claims. Let other people make your kills for you; focus on tagging. You'll pull down gold FATEs; you'll bathe in free XP for the kills; you will be happier than if you fought "the normal way".

It's too bad medica doesn't work outside of a party or else it would be really easy to get full participation for fates.

Aero, Tab, Aero, Tab, Aero, Tab, Aero. You'll get gold every single time without every pulling aggro. On single target fates drop an Aero then spam Stone II until it's over and you'll pull gold.

I got tired of getting bronze as WHM. So I switched to CNJ and loaded up Flash... Gold every time. FATE is really lame.
