Do healers have a place in PvE?

I got tired of getting bronze as WHM. So I switched to CNJ and loaded up Flash... Gold every time. FATE is really lame.

I'm still not proven by anything said that we have a place in PvE as healers and not DD's. It's just not right.

SCH is my main, I did fate grind from 1-50, nothing but healing, trust me it works just fine.

As a Paladin, I feel your pain about not putting out enough DPS in these nuke heavy Fates, but then I learned that they're Hate based and not damage based so now I just spam Flash. I imagine that the same thing works for healers, just throw heals down like crazy.

Yup. When in doubt, spam medica (*Assuming you are in a party. Or succor if you're a scholar)

It's also worth noting if you TAG a mob (so it turns red) and someone else kills it, you will get significant credit too. A well placed holy or bane can easily tag a large number of freshly spawned enemies, as well as more carefully aimed aero/bio at low levels.

The easiest way to Fate grind as a healer (or any other class for that matter) is to get your GLD to lvl 8 and get the ability Flash. Stay as your base class while you fate grind and cross-equip Flash. Just run around popping flash on everything you see. Super easy.

For the boss fates, just flash it, medica two or three times, then dps and spot heal.

For DPS that don't have good instant AE, use flash too.

If you're soloing make sure you have your chocobo out too so you have someone else to heal. I don't mind aggroing the trash mobs sometimes just so I can tank and heal as well.
