Yeah clearly a company charging a $13/month sub should be stingy with their money, and offer worse servers than f2p or b2p games.SE isn't going to be making anymore hardware upgrades until everyone's been billed. 10k for an instance server for duty finder, 50-60k for a world server, hardly seems justifiable if no one plays past their 30day subscription, or their 1.0 subscription. Once the population levels out and SE can determine how many actual players there are playing, they'll make hardware adjustments. But before then it would be foolish to waste that kind of money, only to have the servers sitting empty and unused in a month.
GW2 is an insult to the Guild Wars 1 legacy, and the only MMO purchase that I have regretted so far. Other than GW2, there are Tera, Aion, Rift, SWTOR that are f2p. If you consider ff14 a 7/10, then the pure f2p games aren't even 4/7. GW2 might be 5/10. Honestly, $15 a month to play a quality game is worth it for me (it's cheaper than a 2 hour movie trip).People are getting billed already? Legacy players? Still have 19 free days to go personally.
And yeah, they might have 50% player retention after free trial if they're really lucky. There are a lot of F2P and good MMO's out there (GW2 off the top of my head) so asking for a subscription means you really have to have a great product to keep people in. And while I'm enjoying FFXIV, it's maybe a 7/10 as far as MMO's go.
Then go play the f2p games. No one is forcing you to pay $13/mo. and their servers are great for me, I haven't seen any issues since they did that maintenance to add servers.

MicroATX Desktop - i7 950 - 12gb ram - 2x GTX580
2x Intel 520 180gb SSD's in Raid0 - 3x 28" LCD @ 5760x1200
I got billed today. I bought 6 months cuz its 7.99 a month that way if your legacy. Veteran Rewards worked great. Logged in and all rewards were in the mailbox. I LOVE my semi-flying mount veteran reward.
$7.99 a month is a good deal imo.

You're in complete denial or blind. Also your personal experience means NOTHING.

Servers are great huh? No issues?
There is no defending this, if you are charging someone for this quaility of service, when guild wars 2 and pso2 is free to play and buy to play, with NO MONTHLY SUB, and has enough servers to handle everyone, you are bananas.
Game is fantastic, they need to use that monthly sub money to support the game properly, because apparently, if not, they need to go free to play.
What? COMPLETELY wrong, it's "reserving instance", you queue up with a full party of 4 people and have to wait 40-120 minutes just to zone in. The instance server is full, you cannot enter. It's not queueing, it's not forming a party, it's trying to enter, but the server is full. Please do not respond to things you know nothing about.

That's not a server issue; something needs to be done to encourage more players to play tanks and healers.
I'm not at that point yet so I didn't see this issue.

I'm not sure if I'll be subbing. There's a lot of odd restrictions and limitations that it feels very narrow and confined. I understand that it's built around the counsel design and I think Yoshi did exactly what he could do with what he had and it's a very well done improvement from 1.0. The content seems like a quick dog pile and comes across as hurried thinking, where their designs could be instead currently improved - we see instead more content of the same design thrown at the demanding community. Of course the future content is a huge draw and seeing what Yoshi comes up with will be a great drama fest.
I have to agree with Shiyo, it IS a server issue that's only pertinent for AK. When you hit level 50 and queue up for AK, you will wait for at least 30min WITH a FULL party. Again, it is a server issue.
BUT, only for AK. I think the issue will fix itself when the subscription coming in. There will be less people playing, therefore freeing up the server. If the problem still persists, then SE hopefully will fix it.
Comparing this issue to other F2P mmo isn't really fair tbh because the other MMO don't really have a lot of people playing.
They have an entire party formed and they still cannot get into the dungeon.
I won't be subbing, but I'll check back in a few months when more content hits, the games a snooze fest after the first job to 50.
