This is exactly why I ask that question. I like helping out people who don't know fights, if they are willing to listen.

It sounds to me like the game could benefit from something like a debuff for "deserters" -- those who quit an instance before completion have a cooldown before they can rejoin one. Maybe a short cooldown the first time, like 5 minutes. For those times if you HAVE to quit a dungeon because you've been waiting for a healer or tank to queue up as in-progress but no one joins and you have to time out or leave to queue up again. But the second time? Third time? 15 minutes. Half an hour. More and more.

now that u mention cutscenes... i did the 2nd last story dungeon last night this poor guy/girl got abused for watchin the cutscenes lol they were like dont make 7 ppl wait if u wanna watch the cutscenes watch them after in the inn instead of wasting our time.... i thought to myself seriously??? ._.
i wasnt referrin to those who ask so they can give advice was referrin to the 1s who leave instantly some1 says its thier first time lol
personally i think a party wiping is a part of learning, bein new to a dungeon is a chance to see how the boss mechanics work/ get used to the fights.. myself ive died a few times on some bosses.. espiecally the meanie demon door boss in keep but after a few attempts u know the patterns of the boss attacks and its quite easy after that ;/ just leavin after 1 death is just >_< but i agree there should b bigger punishments for deserters to encourage ppl to stick to the dungeon teams cause the debuff isnt much atm and ppl dont mind waitin 5mins or somethin to use DF again... hopefully they implement somethin in future patches to stop this happening ;/

Myself and my friend (I'm dps and he's a tank) ask if anyone is a first timer in a dungeon we're in, especially if we've been running it a few goes but that's so we can explain or give some pointers to those that have never been in there before. It's always so rewarding helping people, especially those that are new to it. We don't rush them. And we've stuck it through bad healers and everything. When a Summoner is doing the healing and the healer isn't.. something is wrong.
Only time I ever walked out of a dungeon was because the tank got dc'ed or something irl came up. Other than that, I'll stick it out to the end if need be. Just the other night a friend and I met some nice people from Hyperion through DF, but we timed out in the dungeon. It was all of our first time really doing it so it was a fun learning experience.
Welcome to my Asylum.

Another reason to ask if someone's a first timer: They might want/need the entire map achievement.

The only time I left the dungeon was when my internet connection suddenly... well... stoped :P
Didn't even have a chance to apologize. =(

was in a pug today for dzemael. tank left immediately after we went in. i think he might have partied w e archer (yes archer, nt brd cuz he didnt have it) and left because of him. funny thing was that the drg, arc and i (whm) cleared the entire dungeon on our own except the last boss, cuz we ran out of time.
had the tank been more forgiving it would have been a good run.
